ofthestructurewhereitwillsensetherelativehumidityofthe
structureaccurately.Donotinstalltheremotesensorwhere
itmaynotaccuratelysensetherelativehumiditysuchasnear
HVACsupplyregisters,nearexteriordoorsandwindows,ornear
apoolorspa.Installinaccordancewithallapplicablecodesand
standards.
2.1 Control Panel Install Instruc-
tions
1. Separatethefrontpanelfromtheback
panelbydepressingthemiddlesections
ofthetopandbottomofthefrontpanel.
2. Locatethewiringaccessholeinthe
wallorotheratmountingsurface.
Placethebackpanelintopositionand
drilltheappropriatemountingholes.
3. Insertthescrewsandtighten.Levelas
necessary.
4. Maketheelectricalconnectionstothe
terminalsonthebackpanelasshownin
theapplicablewiringdiagram(seeSections2.2-2.4).
5. Testtheinstallation(seeSection2.5).

2.2 Remote Sensor Install Instructions
This section is applicable only to customers who have purchased a remote
sensor package. The standard DEH 3000 controller does not offer remote
functionality.
2.3 Remote Sensor Usage
IMPORTANT!
•Theuseofspraypaintonthesensorhousingmaydamagethesensorandisnotcoveredbytheproduct
warranty.
Theremotesensingoptionisusedwhenaninstallationrequiresmountingthehumidityandtemperaturesensor
outoftheconditionedspaceorwhenitisdesiredtospecicallymonitorandcontroltheconditionsataparticular
locationinalargerconditionedspace.
Boththeneedforandlocationoftheremotesensorshouldbedeterminedbyaheating/coolingprofessional.
2.4 Remote Sensor Wiring Instructions
1.Routingsignalwires:
Youwillberequiredtosupplyandroute24gauge,4conductorsolidwire(2-linetelephonewire)betweenthe
DEH3000Rcontrollerandtheremotesensorlocation.•Donotrunwireslongerthan100ft.
•Theuseof24gaugewireisoptimal.Thinnergaugewiremaylimitsensordistance.Thickergaugeswillnotwork
withspliceconnectorsprovided.
•Avoidroutingparalleltohighvoltagewiring.
•Maintainadistanceof2ft.ormorefromhighvoltagelines.
2.Sensorconnection:
Thesensorcanbemountedtoawallorceilingsurface.Idealsensorlocationis5ft.abovetheoor.Wires
shouldexitthrougha½”diameterholeinthemountingsurfaceatthemountinglocation.Usetheprovidedsplice

connectorstoconnectthe4wiresfromtheremotesensortotheuser-suppliedinterconnectwire.Besuretokeep
propercolorsattachedtoeachother.
3.Sensormounting:
Youwillneedtwoscrewstomountthesensor.Usethetwoslottedholestomountthebaseofthesensortothe
wallandthensnapthecoverintoplace.
4.Controllerconnection:
Usetheprovidedspliceconnectorstoconnectthe4wiresfromtheDEH3000Rtotheuser-suppliedinterconnect
wire.Besuretokeepthepropercolorsattachedtoeachother.
Continuewiththeinstallationasdescribedintherestofthismanual.
2.5 Control Panel Wiring Instructions
WARNING! DO NOT ALLOW THE YELLOW WIRE FROM THE QUEST DEHUMIDIFIER
TO CONTACT THE RED OR WHITE WIRES FROM THE QUEST DEHUMIDIFIER, DAMAGE TO THE 24-VOLT
TRANSFORMER WILL RESULT.
WARNING! THE QUEST DEH 3000R DIGITAL CONTROL OPERATES ON A LOW
VOLTAGE CIRCUIT (24 VAC) AND MUST NEVER CONTACT OR BE CONNECTED TO A HIGH VOLTAGE
CIRCUIT.
WARNING! UNPLUG THE QUEST DEHUMIDIFIER BEFORE WIRING THE DEH 3000R.
Theinstallermustsupplyalleldwiring,includingthewiringbetweentheQUESTdehumidierand
theQuestDEH3000R.SomeofthecontrolwiresleavingtheQUESTdehumidiermaynotbeused
insomecontrolsituationsandshouldbeleftdisconnectedwithwirenutstapedontothestripped
ends.
BesuretoconsulttheelectricalschematicinthismanualortheinternalelectricalboxoftheQuest
dehumidierbeforemakinganycontrolconnections.

Lock-out the A/C during dehumidier fan operation
ThiswillturnofftheA/Cwheneverthedehumidierfanruns.
1.WiretheYellowthermostatterminaltotheNCterminalontheQuestDEH3000R.Theinstaller
mustsupplythewiringbetweentheQuestdehumidierandthecontrolpanel.Besuretosafelyroutethe
controlwirestopreventdamageduringinstallation.Be
carefulnottocrossthewireswhenconnectingtheQuest
dehumidierandtheremotecontrolpanelordamageto
thetransformermayresult.
2.RuntheYellowwirefromtheA/CunittotheCOM
terminalontheQuestDEH3000R.
Energize the A/C central fan during dehumidier fan
operation
ToautomaticallyruntheA/CFANwhenthedehumidier
fanruns.
1.AttachasecondGreenwiretotheGreenfanwire
terminalonthethermostat.
2.ConnectthenewGreenwiretotheCOMterminalonthe
QuestDEH3000R.
3.RunawirefromtheRedterminalonthethermostatto
theNO(NormallyOpen)terminalontheQuestDEH
3000R.
2.7 Dehumidier lock-OFF or lock-ON:
A/C sensor feature
Toautomaticallyactivateordeactivatethedehumidierwhentheairconditionerruns.
Activate dehumidication when the air-conditioner is running.
A voltmeter is required for the next steps to ensure the correct wiring from
the A/C transformer is used to set up the Lock-in dehumidier function.
1.ThecommonwirefromtheexistingA/Ctransformer(usuallyBlack)
mustbeattachedtothe“COM”sensorterminalbetween“ON-D”
and“OFF-D”ontheDEH3000R.
TIP: The common wire can be identied as the wire from the A/C
transformer that reads 0 volts between it and the Yellow air conditioning call
for cooling wire.The incorrect wire will give a 20 to 28 volt reading.

Deactivate dehumidication when the air-conditioner is running.
Avoltmeterisrequiredforthenextstepstoensurethe
correctwiringfromtheA/Ctransformerisusedtosetup
theLock-outdehumidierfunction.
1. ThecommonwirefromtheexistingA/C
transformer(usuallyBlack)mustbeattachedto
the“COM”sensorterminalbetween“ON-D”
and“OFF-D”ontheDEH3000R.
TIP: The common wire can be identied as the wire
from the A/C transformer that reads 0 volts between
it and the Yellow air conditioning call for cooling wire.
The incorrect wire will give a 20 to 28 volt reading.
2.AnotherYellowwiremustbeaddedtothethermostatYellowterminalandruntothe“OFF-D”
sensorterminalontheDEH3000R.
2.8 Testing
Verifythewiringconnections.

1. InstallfrontcoveroftheQuestDEH3000R;connectthetoprst,thenthebottom.
2.PlugintheQUESTdehumidier.TheQuestDEH3000Rshouldpowerup.
3.TurntheQuestDEH3000RONbypressingthe“ON/OFF”button.
4.VerifydehumidicationoperationbyadjustingtheRH“SETPOINT”tobelowthe“%RH”
readingonthedisplay.Usethedown“RH”button.ConrmQuestfanandcompressor
operation.BothshouldbeONnow.
IncreasetheRH“SETPOINT”onthedisplaytowellabovethe“%RH”readingonthedisplay.Pressthe“RH”
uparrowtoincreasetheRH“SETPOINT”.
AfterrunningthedehumidiercompressortheQuestDEH3000Rappliesa10minuterestartlockoutonall
functions.Youwillhavetowaitfortherestartlockouttoexpire.
5.VerifyFAN-onlyoperation:
a.Checkthe“VENT”modeonthedisplay,itwilleitherbe“CLOSED”or“OPEN”.Ifitis“CLOSED”goto
thenextstep.Ifitis“OPEN”,pressandholdthe“VENT”keyuntil“OPEN”ashesonthedisplay,release
thekeyandthenpressitonemoretime.“OPEN”willchangeto“CLOSED”.Don’ttouchthekeysfor
severalsecondsuntilitstopsashing.
b.Pressandholdthe“FAN”buttonuntil“AUTO”beginsashingonthedisplay,releaseit,andthenpressit
againtoswitchthefantothe“ON”setting.
c.ConrmthattheQUESTfanisON.QuestcompressormustbeOFF.Ventilationdamper(ifused)should
beCLOSED.
6.VerifyoptionalVENToperation(ifelectricdamperisinstalled):
a.Pressandholdthe“FAN”buttonuntil“ON”ashesonthedisplay.
b.Releasethe“FAN”button,thenpressitagaintoswitchfanoperationto“AUTO”.

terminalstoverifyvoltage.Ifthereisconcernaboutthedehumidiernotoperatingproperly,theleadsexitingthe
QUESTdehumidiermaybeconnectedaccordingtothefollowingchart:

Waitmodeisafactory-programmedtimeperiodmeanttopreventshortcycles.Thisextendsthelifeofthe
dehumidier.Whenaashing“O”isencountered,theunitisinwaitmodeandIT COULD BE UP TO 10
MINUTES BEFORE OPERATION RESUMES.
3.1 Display
•Wheneverthereispowertothecontrol,itwilldisplaythetime,theday,%relativehumidity,andtemperature.
•WhenthecontrolisactuallyswitchedON,the%RHsetpoint,fanstatus,runmode(programorhold),andfresh
airventilationstatusisdisplayed.
•Whenakeyispressedthedisplaywilllightforapproximately½aminute.
•TheTimeandDayisdisplayedatthetopofthescreen.

Duringtheset-upprocess,ifyoumakeamistake,simplycontinue.Youcanalwaysgobacktoadjustthesettings.
Ifyouleavethecontrolaloneanddon’ttouchanybuttonsfor10seconds,thecontrolwillrememberany
changesmadeandreturntothenormaldisplayscreen,allowingyoutoproceedtothenextstep.
