SAFETY FIRST
Before attempting to operate this power tool the
following basi safety pre autions should always be
taken to redu e the risk of fire, ele tri sho k and
personal injury. It is important to read the instru tion
manual to understand the appli ation, limitations and
potential hazards asso iated with this tool.
CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE
This produ t is guaranteed for a period of 2 Years, with
effe t from the date of pur hase and applies only to the
original pur haser. This guarantee only applies to
defe ts arising from, defe tive materials and or faulty
workmanship that be ome evident during the
guarantee period only and does not in lude onsumable
items. The manufa turer will repair or repla e the
produ t at their dis retion subje t to the following. That
the produ t has been used in a ordan e with the
guide lines as detailed in the produ t manual and that it
has not been
subje ted to misuse, abuse or used for a purpose for
whi h it was not intended. That it has not been taken
apart or tampered with in any way whatsoever or has
been servi ed by unauthorised persons or has been
used for hire purposes. Transit damage is ex luded from
this guarantee, for su h damage the transport ompany
is responsible. Claims made under this guarantee must
be made in the first instan e, dire tly to the retailer
within the guarantee period. Only under ex eptional
ir umstan es should the produ t be returned to the
manufa turer. In these ase it shall be the onsumer’s
responsibility to return the produ t at their ost
ensuring that the produ t is adequately pa ked to
prevent transit damage and must be a ompanied with
a brief des ription of the fault and a opy of the re eipt
or other proof of pur hase. The manufa turer shall not
be liable for any spe ial, exemplary, dire t, indire t,
in idental, or onsequential loss or damage under this
guarantee. This guarantee is in addition to and does not
affe t any rights, whi h the onsumer may have by
virtue of the Sale of Goods A t 1973 as amended 1975
and 1999.

This guarantee is in addition to and in no way affe ts
your statutory rights.
PRODUCT DISPOSAL
When this produ t rea hes the end of it’s life or is
disposed of for any other reason, it must not be
disposed of in household waste. In order to preserve
natural resour es, and to minimise adverse
environmental impa t, please re y le or dispose of this
produ t in an environmentally friendly way. It should be
taken to your lo al waste re y ling entre or other
authorised olle tion and disposal fa ility.
If in doubt onsult your lo al waste authority for
information regarding available re y ling and / or
disposal options.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the instru tions with due are. Familiarize yourself
with the settings and proper operation of the ma hine.
Never allow hildren or other persons who are not
familiar with the operating instru tions to use the
ma hine.
Never use in the dire t vi inity of persons - espe ially
hildren - or animals.
Warning! Maintain a safety distan e of 15m. If
approa hed, swit h off the applian e immediately.
Always keep in mind that the ma hine operator or user
is responsible for a idents involving other persons
and/or their property.
Always wear sturdy, non-slip footwear and long
trousers when operating the ma hine. Never operate
the ma hine barefoot or in sandals.
Che k the grounds on whi h the ma hine will be used
and remove all obje ts that ould be aught up and
violently flung out.
Warning! Petrol is highly flammable!
Only store petrol in ontainers designed to hold
petroleum-based liquids.
Only refuel out in the open and do not smoke during the
refueling pro ess.
Always refuel before starting the engine. Do not open
fuel tank ap and do not refuel when the engine is
running or when the brush utter is hot.
If petrol has overflowed, do not under any
ir umstan es attempt to start the engine. Instead,
remove the ma hine from the affe ted area. Avoid
starting the engine until the petrol fumes have
ompletely evaporated.
For safety reasons, the petrol tank and other tank
losures must be repla ed if they are damaged.
Repla e defe tive exhausts.
Before using the petrol brush utter, visually inspe t it
to ensure that the mounting bolts and the entire utting
apparatus are in good working order (i.e. not worn out
or damaged).
To prevent any imbalan e, repla e worn out blades or
damaged mounting bolts as a set only (if appli able).
HANDLING
Wear lose fitting, tough work lothing that will provide
prote tion, su h as long sla ks or trousers, prote tive
footware, heavy duty work gloves, hard hat, a safety
fa e shield, or safety glasses for eye prote tion and a
good grade of ear defenders or other sound barriers for
hearing prote tion.

Store in a safe pla e. Open fuel ap slowly to release
any pressure whi h may have formed in fuel tank. To
prevent a fire hazard, move at least 10 feet (3 meters)
from fueling area before starting.
Turn unit off before setting it down.
Always hold unit firmly with both hands, the thumb and
fingers en ir ling the handles.
Keep all s rews and fasteners tight. Never operate your
equipment when it is improperly adjusted or not
ompletely and se urely assembled.
Keep handles dry, lean and free of fuel mixture.
Keep the utting head as lose to ground as pra ti al.
Avoid hitting small obje ts with the line spool. When
utting on a slope, stand below stringhead. NEVER ut
or trim on a hill or slope, et . if there is the slightest
han e of slipping, sliding or losing firm footing.
Che k the area you will be trimming for debris that may
be stru k or thrown during operation.
Keep all parts of your body and lothing away from the
utting head when starting or running engine. Before
starting the engine, make sure the utting head will not
ome in onta t with any obstru tions.
Stop the engine before examining utting line.
Store equipment away from possible flammable
materials, su h as gas-powered water heaters, lothes
dryers, or oil-fired furna es, portable heaters, et .
Always keep the safety guard, the utting head, and
engine free of debris build-up.
Operation of equipment should always be restri ted to
mature and properly instru ted individuals.
If unfamiliar with trimming te hniques, pra ti e the
pro edures with engine in “OFF” position.
Always lear work area of debris su h as ans, bottles,
ro ks, et . Striking obje ts an ause serious injury to
the operator or bystanders and also damage
equipment. If an obje t is hit a identally, turn the
engine off immediately and examine the equipment.
Never operate unit with damaged or defe tive
equipment.
Always trim or ut at high engine speeds. Do not run
engine slowly at start or during trimming operations.
Do not use equipment for purposes other than trimming
or mowing weeds.
Never raise the utting head above knee height during
operation.
Do not operate unit with other people or animals in the
immediate vi inity. Allow a minimum of 50 feet (15
meters) between operator and other people and
animals when trimming or mowing. Allow a distan e of
100 feet (30 meters) between operator and other
people and animals when operating the petrol grass
trimmer.
If operating on a slope, stand below the utting
atta hment. Do not operate on a slope or hilly in line if
there is the slightest han e of slipping or losing your
footing.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER FUEL other than that
re ommended in your manual. Always follow
instru tions in the Fuel and Oil se tion of this manual.
Never use petrol unless it is properly mixed with 2-
stroke engine oil. Permanent damage to engine will
result, voiding manufa turer’s warranty.
DO NOT SMOKE while refueling or operating equipment.
DO NOT OPERATE UNIT WITHOUT AN EXHAUST and
properly installed exhaust shield.
DO NOT TOUCH or let your hands or body ome in
onta t with the exhaust. Hold unit with thumbs and
fingers en ir ling the handles.
DO NOT OPERATE UNIT IN AWKWARD POSITIONS, off
balan e, outstret hed arms, or one-handed. Always use
two hands when operating unit with thumbs and fingers
en ir ling the handles.
DO NOT RAISE THE LINE SPOOL above ground level while
unit is operating. Injury to operator ould result.
DO NOT USE UNIT FOR ANY PURPOSES OTHER than
trimming lawn or garden areas.
DO NOT OPERATE UNIT FOR PROLONGED PERIODS. Rest
periodi ally.
DO NOT OPERATE UNIT WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE
OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.
DO NOT OPERATE UNIT UNLESS SAFETY GUARD IS
INSTALLED AND IN GOOD CONDITION.
DO NOT ADD, REMOVE OR ALTER ANY COMPONENTS OF
THIS PRODUCT. Doing so ould ause personal injury
and/or damage the unit voiding the warranty.
DO NOT operate your unit near or around flammable
liquids or gases whether in or out of doors. An explosion
and/or fire may result.
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER CUTTING TOOLS. For your own
safety only use the a essories and additional
equipment spe ified in the operating manual. The use of
tools or a essories other than those re ommended in
this operating manual may pla e you in danger of
personal injury.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING! Read all instru tions Failure to follow all
instru tions listed below may result in ele tri sho k,
fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all of
the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated
( orded) power tool or battery operated ( ordless)
power tool.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1) WORK AREA
a) Keep work area lean and well lit. Cluttered and dark
areas invite a idents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, su h as in the presen e of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Power tools reate sparks
whi h may ignite the dust or fumes.
) Keep hildren and bystanders away while operating
a power tool. Distra tions an ause you to lose
ontrol.
2) PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, wat h what you are doing and use
ommon sense when operating a power tool. Do not
use a power tool while you are tired or under the
influen e of drugs, al ohol or medi ation.
A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye prote tion.
Safety equipment su h as dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing prote tion used
for appropriate onditions will redu e personal
injuries.
) Avoid a idental starting. Ensure the swit h is in the
off position before plugging in. Carrying power tools
with your finger on the swit h or plugging in power
tools that have the swit h on invites a idents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wren h before turning
the power tool on.
A wren h or a key left atta hed to a rotating part of
the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overrea h. Keep proper footing and balan e
at all times. This enables better ontrol of the power
tool in unexpe ted situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose lothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, lothing and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose lothes, jewellery or long
hair an be aught in moving parts.
g) If devi es are provided for the onne tion of dust
extra tion and olle tion fa ilities, ensure these are
onne ted and properly used. Use of these devi es
an redu e dust related hazards.
3) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not for e the power tool. Use the orre t power
tool for your appli ation. The orre t power tool will
do the job better and safer at the rate for whi h it
was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the swit h does not
turn it on and off. Any power tool that annot be
ontrolled with the swit h is dangerous and must be
repaired.
) Dis onne t the plug from the power sour e before
making any adjustments, hanging a essories, or
storing power tools. Su h preventive safety
measures redu e the risk of starting the power tool
a identally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the rea h of hildren
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power
tool or these instru tions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Che k for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any
other ondition that may affe t the power tools
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many a idents are aused by poorly
maintained power tools.
f) Keep utting tools sharp and lean. Properly
maintained utting tools with sharp utting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to ontrol.
g) Use the power tool, a essories and tool bits et ., in
a ordan e with these instru tions and in the
manner intended for the parti ular type of power
tool, taking into a ount the working onditions and
the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from intended ould result in a
hazardous situation.
4) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool servi ed by a qualified repair
person using only identi al repla ement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.

COMPONENTS & CONTROLS (FIG.1)
UNPACKING
Caution! This pa kaging ontains sharp obje ts. Take
are when unpa king. Remove the ma hine, together
with the a essories supplied, from the pa kaging.
Che k arefully to ensure that the ma hine is in good
ondition and a ount for all the a essories listed in
this manual. Also make sure that all the a essories are
omplete. If any parts are found to be missing, the
ma hine and its a essories should be returned
together in their original pa kaging to the retailer.
Do not throw the pa kaging away, keep it safe
throughout the guarantee period, then re y le if
possible, otherwise dispose of it by the proper means.
Do not let hildren play with empty plasti bags due to
the risk of suffo ation.
ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING THE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
WARNING! Never install, remove, or adjust any
atta hment while power head is running. Failure to stop
the engine an ause serious personal injury.
Stop the engine and dis onne t the spark plug wire.
Loosen the star grip s rew knob on the oupler of the
power head shaft, Fig.2, and remove the hanger ap
from the atta hment.
Align the button with the guide re ess on the power
head oupler and slide the two shafts together, Fig.3.
Rotate the atta hment shaft until the button lo ks into
the positioning hole.
NOTE: If the button does not release ompletely in the
positioning hole, the shafts are not lo ked into pla e.
Slightly rotate from side to side until the button is
lo ked into pla e.
Tighten the star grip s rew knob se urely.
INSTALLING THE HANDLE
Uns rew the four bolts on the handle using the suppled
hex key, Fig.4.
Remove the top half of the handle and then install the
lower half onto the motor shaft, Fig.5. There are 3
not hes on the motor shaft where the handle an be
positioned.
Repla e the top half of the handle and tighten the four
bolts. Do not fully tighten the bolts until you have set
the perfe t working position with the arrying strap.
ATTACHING THE DEBRIS SHIELD
WARNING! The ut-off knife on the debris shield is
sharp. Avoid onta t with the knife. Failure to avoid
onta t an result in serious personal injury.
Insert the tab on the shaft assembly atta hment
bra ket into the thin slot on the debris shield, Fig.6, and
then line up the hole on the debris shield with the hole
on the atta hment bra ket and atta h together using
the bolt, Fig.7. Tighten using the hex key provided.
FITTING THE LINE SPOOL
Pla e the mounting dis on the shaft, Fig.8.
S rew the line spool onto the shaft by turning it
ounter- lo kwise, Fig.9.
Now tighten the trimmer head by hand.
Che k for freedom of motion of the line spool.
REMOVING THE LINE SPOOL (FIG.10)
Insert the Hex key (1) through the hole in the head
assembly and into the opening on the mounting dis (3).
Holding the hex key tight so the mounting dis does not
move uns rew the line spool (2) lo kwise until the
spool is removed.
FITTING THE BLADE
Uns rew the lo knut (7) from the shaft by turning it
lo kwise.
Remove the floating dis (6) and washer (5).
Insert the Hex key (1) through the hole in the head
assembly and into the opening on the mounting dis (3).
Holding the hex key tight so the mounting dis does not
move position the blade (4), washer (5) and the floating
dis (6) as shown in Fig 11.
