1. General Information
1.1 Description of Operation
The P-CUBE portable power pack is a self-contained, 230V AC 50Hz
power storage unit that functions in a similar manner to an “On-Line”
UPS. It has the latest battery storage technology in the form of
Litium-Ion Phosphate batteries, delivering 12 Volts at an impressive
50 Amps. This is roughly the same amount of energy as that stored in
a modern vehicle’s lead acid battery. Almost all the full energy stored
can be utilised, providing up to 6 hours of power depending on the
load.
Its primary function is to provide back-up in the event of a power
failure or load shedding to entertainment equipment, computers,
laptops and lighting (see page 7 - 1.5 Applications that can be
powered by the unit). A 3.1A smart charging double USB port is
provided to keep cellphones and other IT devices charged.
For best results, switch off and disconnect entertainment equipment
from the mains. Plug the P-CUBE into a wall power outlet (see page
5) and plug the appliances into the power outlets of the P-CUBE (see
page 2 - 1.2 Product Features). Switch on power at the wall outlet,
press the Main Switch on the unit followed by the AC Power Outlet
Switch to provide power to the appliances.
The unit will perform in a similar manner to an On-Line UPS and
protect any devices that are plugged into it from power failures.
When the power goes off, the unit will automatically revert to
back-up mode and will run appliances off the internal batteries. When
these reach a charge level of approximately 10%, a warning buzzer
will sound. If left for long enough, the unit will run out of power and
shut down, stopping the buzzer. When power is restored the unit will
self-charge (see page 5 - 1.4 Charging the P-CUBE).
Note: the battery management system (BMS) will disconnect the
batteries and will reset when the mains power is restored or if the unit
is connected to an external DC supply via the DC charge socket.

When the unit is charging, the LED below the main switch marked
“AC Charge” will illuminate once charging from the mains. Conversely,
the LED above the main switch, marked “DC Charge” will illuminate
when charging from solar panels or another DC source.
Operation is seamless and requires no user intervention.

1.3 Operating the unit
1.3.1 Turning the unit on
To turn the unit on, press the Main
Switch (ON/OFF). This will supply
power to the unit and activate the
UPS.
1.3.2 Checking the battery level
Once the unit has been turned on (see above), press the small grey
button in the centre of the Battery Level Indicator. The top LED will
glow green and the the bars will light up, indicating the approximate
percentage of charge remaining. A flashing bar signifies a charge
percentage between those listed on the interface.
1.3.3 Checking the power usage
Make sure the unit has been turned on and press the small grey
button in the centre of the Battery Level Indicator. Once the battery
level has been shown for 5 seconds, the lower LED will glow green
and the bars will indicate the amount of power being drawn.
1.3.4 Using the power outlets
Once the unit has been turned on, power to the power outlets can be
turned on or off using the AC Power Outlet Switch.
1.3.5 Using the USB Ports
The 2 Port USB Smart Charger is rated at 3.1A and is able to supply

1.4 Charging the P-CUBE
1.4.1 Recommended charge time
The P-CUBE is supplied partially charged but must be charged fully
before use. This will take 6 hours.
For all further charges, the batteries will be approximately 80%
charged in 1.5 hours, and fully charged in approximately 3 hours. If
you charge the P-CUBE while running other appliances, it will take
substantially longer to reach a full charge.
Note: The P-CUBE will continue to draw a small amount of power
even when turned off. If the unit isn’t used for some time, it may
require charging before it is next used.
1.4.2 Charging the unit
The charger for the P-CUBE is integral to the inverter - use the
supplied charging lead with a 3 pin plug to charge the unit.
Press the lid of the power cable compartment to release it, remove
the plug and uncoil the cable. The plug can the be plugged into the
nearest wall power outlet. The AC charge LED will glow green when
charging and will glow blue when fully charged.
You can disconnect and use the unit before it is fully charged, but it is
recommended that it be fully charged before use.

Note: Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles
and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of
charge cycles will vary depending on use. For LiFePo4 batteries
this can be up to 3000 cycles.
Unplug the P-CUBE charging lead if any of the following conditions
exist:
The power cord or plug has become frayed or damaged.
The unit is exposed to rain, liquids, or excessive moisture.
The unit has become damaged.
You suspect the unit needs servicing or repair.
You want to clean the unit.

1.5 Applications that can be powered by the unit
The P-CUBE has been designed to power appliances or combinations
of appliances that do not exceed a rating of 500W. Common
appliances that should not be powered by the unit include hairdryers,
kettles, microwave ovens, toasters, vacuum cleaners and electric
heaters.
To determine whether the P-CUBE will be able to safely power an
appliance or combination thereof, check the rating label of each
appliance. Ensure that the total wattage being drawn does not
exceed 500W.
1.6 Calculating battery life based on usage
The P-CUBE has 16 x 12Ah, 3.2V cells, totalling 500Wh when the unit
is fully charged. It is important to note that this is an approximate
amount and does not account for voltage drop within the unit or
changes in the amount of power being drawn by each appliance.
Note: The smaller P-CUBE has 8 x 12Ah, 3.2V cells totalling 250W
(The inverter remains at 500W). Run times will accordingly be
reduced.
