Thank you for your purchase of Pioneer's Model CS-88A
high fidelity speaker system. This versatile component may
be used in a single amplifier system, it will assurp you years
of the finest musical enjoyment.
FEATURES
"F.8.'' PROCESS CONE PAPER
The cone paper of the speakers in the Model CS-88A is made
with the new "F.B." process, in which pulp and wool fibers
are combined. The result is a paper that is more rigid and
lightweight. It also provides improved higher frequency
characteristics, better transient response and reduced distor-
tion.
BRILLIANT, DYNAMIC HIGH-FIDELITY REPRODUC.
TION
The CS-88A delivers rich, distortion-free music over a wide
dynamic range, from full bass on up to sparkling, silky highs.
It is a 4-way system with one 12" woofer, two 5" mid-range
speakers, two 3" tweeters and one multicellular horn tweeter
for very high frequencies.
EFFICIENT. DIVIDING NETWORKDESIGN
The design of the dividing network is extremely important
in speaker systerns. In the CS-88A special consideration has
been given to this network. Wound on a ferrite core is a
high-Q inductance coil, for better transient response. The
crossover frequency is lower for clean bass and mid-range
tone.
SOPHISTICATED CABINET DESIGN
The CS-88A is an attractive piece of furniture as well, with
its lattice grille and polished walnut. Its convenient dimen-
sions allow it to be placed either on the floor or on a
bookshelf, and it operates either vertically or horizontally.
Removal of the gfille is simplicity itself.
CONNECTION WITH A STEREO
AMPLIFIER
Connect the positive (+) output terminal of your amplifier
with the positive (+) input terminal of the CS-88A and the
negative to negative. Do noi reverse these polarities.

LEVEL CONTROL ADJUSTMENT
First set the tone control knobs of your amplifier to
FLAT position, and the loudness switch OFF. Then set
the level controls of the CS-88A to the position that gives
you the tone quality you like best.
There are two level controls, one for the mid-range and one
for the highs. Setting the two controls to INCREASE
position will provide standard flat response. Setting the
mid-range control to NORMAL position will damp the
mid-range about 1.5 dB; setting it to DECREASE will
damp it about 3 dB. Setting the high range control to
NORMAL will provide a response with the high end
damped about 2 dB, and setting it to DECREASE will
damp the highs about 4 dB.

NOTE
* The impedance of the CS-88A is 8 ohms. When the
output terminal impedance of your amplifier ranges from
4 to 16 ohms, it can be used with the CS-88A.
* Wax the cabinet, polishing it with a soft, dry cloth,
about once every 3-4 months. This will maintain the fine
finish of the cabinet.
* Do not feed a very high signal or "click" noise .to the
CS-88A when the back is removed.

The sensitivity has been measured in accordance
with JIS C-5531 set forth in 1969. The value is
equal to 1OB dB/W when it is measured accord-
ing to the superseded JIS-5501. (JIS: Japan
Industrial Standards).
