3. Operating Instructions

4. Handling Precautions for Traverse Deck

The laserdiode inthe traverse deck (optical pickup) maybreak downdue to potential difference

causedbystatic electricity

of clothes orhumanbody.

So, be careful of electrostatic breakdownduring repairof the traverse deck (optical pickup).

4.1. Handling thetraverse deck (optical pickup)

1. Thetraverse deck (optical pickup)isanextremely

high-precision construction and must notbesubjected

toimpact, excessivevibration, or othertypes ofrough

handling.

2. Inordertopreventstaticelectricitydamagetothelaser

diode, use ashortpinor similartool toshorttheoptical

pickup’sflexiblecircuitboardsaftertheyhavebeen

disconnectedfrom themaincircuitboard.

3. Handletheflexiblecircuitboardswithcare;excessive

force couldcause themtobebroken.

4. Donotturn thepre-set variableresistor (for adjustmentof

thelaserpower);ithas beenadjustedat thefactory.

(as shownin Fig. 1 )

Fig. 1

4.2. Grounding for electrostaticbreakdownprevention

1. Humanbodygrounding

Use theanti-staticwrist straptodischargethestatic

electricityfrom your body.

2. Worktablegrounding

Putaconductivematerial (sheet) or steel sheet on the

area wheretheoptical pickup isplaced, and ground

thesheet. (as shownin Fig. 2 )

Fig. 2

Caution:

Thestaticelectricityofyour clothes will notbegrounded

through thewrist strap.

So, take carenottolet your clothes touchthetraverse deck

(optical pickup).

5. Operation Checks and ComponentReplacement

Procedures

6. Checking the Operation Problemson the Traverse

Deck (Optical Pickup)

Make sure to followthe procedures belowto check the operation problems of the traverse deck

(optical pickup) before replacing it.

Replace the traverse deck onlyafterthe problemis identified.
