Thank you for purchasing a Packard Bell Medi@ TV. This Quick Start Guide will help you set up your
Medi@ TV in 5 simple steps:
I. Connecting your Packard Bell Medi@ TV
II. Installing software on the computer
III. Starting Packard Bell Media Organizer
IV. Configuring your Medi@ TV
V. Starting the Viewer
Note that most of the instructions in this guide are valid for the net2plug edition. For other types of net-
work connections, please refer to the electronic documentation included with Packard Bell Medi@ TV or
the documentation that was supplied by the manufacturer of your network hardware and/or software.
I. Connecting your Packard Bell Medi@ TV

Caution: for use with power supply modes PL9645-ETP-UK-BP or PL9645-ETP-EU-BP.
Please find the ‘Security-ID’ number on the power adapter. You should note this down at the
back of this guide, because you will need it later.

3. Remote control
Install the batteries first. Please use LR03 (AAA) batteries only.
II. Installing software on the computer
Insert the Medi@ TV installation CD into the computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please select step . This will install the
net2plug adapters to set up your home
network. Follow the instructions on the
screen.
During installation you are requested to enter a password. Please note down this password on the back
cover of this guide. You will need this information later.
a. When prompted, connect the net2plug USB adapter to a USB port of the computer using the USB
cable (included).
b. Plug the net2plug USB adapter into a convenient power socket.
c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
The next step, step , installs the Packard Bell Media Organiser. This is the software that helps you
manage your multimedia library.
During this step you are asked to insert a database option. We recommend you select Share database
for all users.

After finishing step , you will be requested to install Packard Bell MediaServer (step ), a tool
that manages your home network installation. Please click on OK. Again, follow the instructions on the
screen. When the installation is ready, your computer needs to be restarted before Packard Bell Medi@
TV can work correctly.
If you wish you can install sample media (step ) to get used to Packard Bell Medi@ TV. You can also
install Adobe®Acrobat®Reader (step ) that allows you to read the included electronic documenta-
tion. You don’t have to do this if Acrobat Reader is already installed on your computer.
III. Starting Packard Bell Media Organizer
Start Packard Bell Media Organizer and follow the instructions on the screen to organise
your multimedia library.
You can use Packard Bell Media Organizer to add and remove contents that
you can view on your TV.
1. Select a folder that you wish to search for data and click on the Scan button.
2. Media files will show up when found. Select the files you wish to add.
3. Add the selected media to Media Organizer.

IV. Configuring your Medi@ TV
a. From the Welcome screen, select the language of your choice.
b. Select the type of network that you are going to use. If you have purchased the Packard Bell net2plug
edition, then please select Wired. For other types of network, please refer to the electronic User’s
Guide.
The following steps assume that you have selected Wired.
c. Select Automatic (DHCP) in the assignment method window.
d. Restart Medi@ TV to activate the new network settings. Please click on OK to do so.
If after five minutes the Medi@ TV cannot connect to the network:
On the television screen:
• Select Cancel.
• From the home page, select Network and then confirm that you want to change your network
settings.
• Select Wired.
•
Enter the following IP settings:
IP Address: 192.168.37.11 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Restart Medi@ TV to activate the new network settings. Please click on OK to do so.
On your computer:
•
Click on Start => Control Panel => Network. Right-click on the USB power packet LAN
connection and select Properties.
•
Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and enter the following IP settings:
IP Address: 192.168.37.10 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
•
Click on OK to finish the network configuration.

V. Starting the Viewer
With the included remote control you have easy access to all func-
tions of Packard Bell Medi@ TV. Some buttons have different func-
tions depending on the type of media you are playing. Please press
the Help button (?) on the remote control for information about
each button.
You may need to install proper codecs to play certain file
types. Please follow the instructions on the screen when
asked to do so.
After setting up Packard Bell Medi@ TV, you are ready to view and
listen to your data through your TV set. Before starting the Viewer,
please assure that your PC is not in Suspend mode! You may have to
close some applications on your PC to free up memory.
Packard Bell has provided a User’s Guide in electronic format. To
access this documentation, please select the Help menu in Packard
Bell Media Organizer.
