ORIGO 1500 and 3000 Alcohol Stoves
This is a reproductionof the Englishportionof the instructions that came withmystove in
1987.
INSTRUCTIONS
ORIGO 1500 and 3000 are non-pressurized alcohol stoves withthe fuelabsorbed ina non-
flammable pulp. Theyhave no valves to develop leaks, or other components in need of
regular service. This makes ORIGO 1500 and 3000 safe and easyto maintain.
As always - whenworking witha naked flame - certainprecautions are required. So,read
the following simple instructions carefullybefore using your newORIGO 1500 and 3000
stove.
If anaccident should ever occur, remember that burning alcohol canbe extinguished with
water.
LOCATION OF YOUR NEW ORIGO 1500 AND 3000
Your stove should be located ina well-ventilated space. Avoid excessive draft. If your
ORIGO1500 and 3000 is used inanopencockpit,it should be placed so that maximum
protectionagainst the wind is obtained. Mount the stove as far awayfrom combustible
materials as possible. Preferablymount the stove ina metal-lined space.

the stove top slightlyforward, while simultaneouslypressing the catchPRESS (photo 1).

opened whenthe burner openings are completelycovered bythe regulating plates.Turn
the regulator knobs clockwise as far as theygo, and the flames are extinguished. Lift out

During use,the tanks are heated, and the fuelrequires space to expand. It is therefore
important to avoid overfilling the tanks.
The tank openings are recessed to facilitate filling. Hold the tank as showninphoto 2, with
the recess pointing down, and pour the fueldirectlyinto the opening covered bythe wire
mesh. Check quantitybyraising to vertical. Whenfuel is visible inrecess, do not fill more
(photo 3). After filling, make certainno excess fuel remains instove. Always wipe tanks dry.
Place tanks instove. Check thattheyfit properlyinmountings. Close the stove up.

Closing: Knobs in 0 position! Fold downthe stove top, the catchwill lock. (Make certain
that the regulating plates cover the burner openings so that stove top is level.)
TO LIGHT (PHOTO 4)
Turnregulator knob counter-clockwise to openburner.Place a lighted matchat burner
opening.(Matchcanbe dropped inand removed at next filling.)
If the stove is warm (from previous use), burner mayignite suddenlyand simultaneously
snuff itself out. If this happens, blow downinto burner opening to dissipate alcohol vapor,
and relight. The Origo-lighter is recommended. Winterize your stove byburning remaining
fuel.

whenthe gimbals are indownposition. Also be sure thatyour ORIGO 1500 and 3000
