1. FEATURES
Noise sensor for COMPACT system installations.
Through a CAN bus it communicates with the COMPACT audio matrix unit sending the noise level measured in the particular loca-
tion where it is placed.
Each COMPACT matrix allows connecting up to 16 units of NS-CAN.
2. PARTS OF THE EQUIPMENT
(1) Noise sensor microphone.
(2) Green led. Power indication.
(3) Red led. Error communication indication.
(4) Yellow led. RX/TX. Data reception and transmission
indicator.
(5) BUS CAN Connection terminal block.
(6) External microphone connection terminal block.
(7) POWER SUPPLY terminal block. 24 VDC.
(8) Reset button. Restarts the firmware of NS-CAN.
(9) BUS CAN ADDRESS configuration DIP switches (see sec-
tion 3. CAN BUS ADDRESS CONFIGURATION).
(10) JP2 and JP3 jumpers. Configures the CAN bus end termi-
nation.
Set jumpers JP2 and JP3 between pins 2-3 if the NS-CAN
is an intermediate element of the bus.
Set jumpers JP2 and JP3 between pins 1-2 if the NS-CAN
is a final element of the bus.

3. CAN BUS ADDRESS CONFIGURATION
Using SW1 DIP switches assigns an address to the sensor.
Every noise sensor connected to the same bus must have a
different CAN address. Values must be between 0 and 15.

4.2.Connection between NS-CAN and COMPACT-E expansion unit
The CAN communication speed of the NS-CAN is 33.3
kbit/s. For installation with COMPACT-E expansion
units with a communication speed of 500 kbit/s, a
CAN-AV speed adapter (code A465AV) must be
inserted in the bus to match the transmission speed
between devices.
The attached table shows the transmission speed of
the equipment:
Follow figure 5 to connect the NS-CAN to the
COMPACT-E.

4.3. Power supply connection
The NS-CAN should be powered at 24VDC through the
24VDC terminal block (see figure 6).
It can also be powered through the 24V and GND con-
tacts of the BUS CAN IN terminal block (see figure 7).
4.4. External microphone connection
ATTENTION:
If you want to use an external microphone instead of the sensor's own microphone, you must change the NS-CAN configuration
using the Call Point software by enabling this option. If an external microphone is used, the microphone integrated in the NS-
CAN stops working.

5. COMMISSIONING THE NS-CAN
Commissioning the NS-CAN requires sending of configurations to the COMPACT audio matrix to whose CAN bus the NS-CAN is
connected. To do this, you need a PC equipped with a network card and connected to the COMPACT matrix, either through a
Ethernet switch, or directly through a network cable. The PC must have the Call Point software installed.
1. Set the CAN address of the NS-CAN and its position in the BUS (end or intermediate element).
2. Make the connections between equipment.
3. Apply power to the units.
4. Via the Call Point software, configure the parameters of the NS-CAN and adjust the NS-CAN values for each zone.
