ATTENTION:
Service of this product to be done by nVent authorized personnel only. This product does not require maintenance after
proper installation. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children
without supervision.
• The installation is to be in accordance with the national wiring rules.The heating product must be supplied through a
RCD with trip rating 30mA maximum.
• This equipment shall be installed only by qualied personnel who are familiar with the construction and operation of
the apparatus and risks involved.
• Caution should be taken to guard against electric shock, re and bodily injury during the installation of
this equipment.
• De-energize power circuits before installation or servicing.
• RAYCHEM Mat should not be connected to power until the RAYCHEM Mat is fully installed and covered by
ooring material.
• Suboor must be prepared in accordance with ANSI specications.
• The heating portion of the RAYCHEM Mat shall not touch, cross over, or overlap itself.
• Do not install RAYCHEM Mat in direct contact with or within 0.256” (6.5 mm) of any combustible surfaces
or materials.
• The minimum bending radius of the power lead is 2” (51 mm) and heating wire is 0.625” (16 mm).
• The ambient air temperature must be above 10°C or 50°F when RAYCHEM Mat is installed.
• RAYCHEM Mat is designed for indoor embedded oor heating applications and in wet areas
• Minimum distance of 1.5” (38.1 mm) between adjacent heating devices.
• Total combined R-values of all oor coverings must not exceed R-1 for 160 W/m2mats.
• RAYCHEM Mat should not be altered.
• RAYCHEM Mat is not for installation in pool and spa areas, nor outdoor use.
* Tile Adhesive must be made of a non-combustible material.

RAYCHEM Mats
RAYCHEM mats are electric oor heating mats consisting of heating cables embedded within two layers of
polyesterfabric.
Mats are designated UKXXYY-WWW where UK denotes the voltage XXYY is the dimensions in meters and WWW is
the watt density in watts per square meter. e.g UK1509-160 is a 230V mat 1.5 x 0.9 meters in size and 160 w/m2in
watt density.
The following thermostats are approved to be used:
NRG-Temp, NRG-DM, Green Leaf, SENZ and SENZ WiFi.
The means for disconnections must be incorporated in the xed wiring in accordance with the wiring rules.

PRE-INSTALLATION
1. Assemble required tools
1. Multimeter /ohmmeter
2. 6 mm x 6 mm square
notched trowel
3. Grouting oat /
lightweight roller
4. Sponge
5. Flexible tile adhesive*
6. Tile adhesive* mixer
7. Large bucket
8. Duct tape
9. Thermostat sensor

2. Perform insulation & resistance tests
Refer to page 11 for insulation and resistance
testing procedures.
4. Dry t and route power lead path
Position RAYCHEM Mat to t contours of room. Route a
path for the power lead to the electrical box. The power
lead CANNOT cross over on top of RAYCHEM Mat.
RAYCHEM Standard Mats can be ipped in any direction
to place power leads closer to thermostat location.
3. Clean suboor
For concrete slab suboors, RAYCHEM recommends
insulating the slab prior to installing RAYCHEM Mat.
Insulation will improve the upward heat transfer
from the mat to the ooring surface and improve
heat up time.

5. Prepare tile adhesive* mixture
7. Place mat onto tile adhesive*
Place RAYCHEM Mat onto fresh tile adhesive*.
6 mm x 6 mm
6. Spread tile adhesive* onto suboor
Use 6 mm x 6 mm square notched trowel to spread
6mm layer of exible tile adhesive* onto suboor. Work
on one manageable section at a time. For RAYCHEM
Mat installations in showers or wet locations, spread tile
adhesive* onto sloped mortar bed above PVC (polyvinyl)
pan liners.
8. Press mat into tile adhesive*
Press RAYCHEM Mat rmly into tile adhesive* with grout
oat or lightweight roller. Create 100% contact between
RAYCHEM Mat, tile adhesive* and suboor. Press out air
bubbles underneath mat. Route power lead(s) to electrical
box as per step 4.

9. Perform insulation & resistance tests
Refer to page 11 for insulation and resistance testing procedures.

10. Secure oor sensor probe
Refer to page 12 for sensor probe testing procedures.
Duct tape the oor sensor probe on top of RAYCHEM Mat. The probe’s tip should be between the heating wires. Ensure
the probe’s tip is located in an area that can represent the overall oor temperature and away from other heating/cooling
sources (i.e. heat vents, direct sunlight, drafts caused by large windows/doors, areas covered by rugs or xed furniture).
The probe wire CAN cross on top of the heating wire(s).

11. Install tile/stone ooring
FOR LAMINATE/ENGINEERED WOOD INSTALLATIONS
SKIP TO PAGE 10.
Use 6 mm x 6 mm square notched trowel to spread
minimum 6 mm layer of exible tile adhesive* on top of
RAYCHEM Mat. Install tile/stone on top of RAYCHEM Mat
as per manufacturer’s instructions.
13. Perform insulation & resistance tests
Refer to page 11 for insulation and resistance
testing procedures.
12. Clean grout lines
Do not use sharp tools or power tools to clean
grout lines; doing so may damage RAYCHEM Mat.
14. Make electrical connections
Make electrical connections. Refer to page 13
for electrical connection procedures.
Before activating RAYCHEM Mat, ensure setting compound
has fully cured. Refer to setting compound manufacturer’s
specications for cure times. Installation of RAYCHEM Mat
is now complete.

11.+ Apply smooth layer of tileadhesive*
Use smooth trowel to spread minimum 6 mm layer of
exible tile adhesive* on top of RAYCHEM Mat. Ensure
tile adhesive* layer is level and smooth. Self-leveling
compounds may also be used. Allow tile adhesive*
or self-leveller to cure as per manufacturer’s instructions.
13.+ Install laminate/engineered woodooring
Install laminate/engineered wood oor as per
manufacturer’s instructions.
+ This step is for laminate and engineered wood ooring only.
12.+Perform zinsulation & resistance tests
Refer to page 11 for insulation and resistance testing
procedures.
14.+Make electrical connections
Make electrical connections. Refer to page 13
for electrical connection procedures.
Before activating RAYCHEM Mat, ensure setting compound
has fully cured. Refer to setting compound manufacturers’
specications for cure times. Installation of RAYCHEM Mat is
now complete.
