INTRODUCTION
Some models of the 4000 series IP cameras with image analysis function, are equipped with an
advanced version of face recognition function. This feature sets specific requirements for the place and
method of installing the camera. Therefore, to ensure high recognition efficiency, Novus recommends
that you follow the instructions in this manual when installing the camera.
INTRODUCTION
This manual is for reference only, and the drawings and diagrams contained therein are only
intended to illustrate the described options.
Due to the high requirements of the face recognition function regarding the scene selection and
camera installation location, it is impossible to give detailed directions. The best effect can be
obtained only by analyzing specific problems and user requirements, and placing the camera
adequately to the specific environment.

CHOOSING THE INSTALLATION PLACE
• As the installation location, select the area in which the movement of people takes place in an
orderly manner, towards or away from the camera. The recognition location must not be
obstructed. Make sure that the camera can capture the direction of movement of everyone whose
faces are to be recognized.
In the absence of space corresponding to the above conditions, it should be created by setting
walls, barriers, etc. so as to ensure orderly movement of people in front of the camera.
• Ensure stable and sufficiently intense lighting. In the event of insufficient light, or light falling
from behind on the recognized person, additional lighting should be provided so that facial
features are clearly visible.
INSTALLATION
Place of installaon suitable: stable and suciently intense light, orderly movement of people
ensured.
Incorrect installaon place: insucient lighng, disordered movement of people, incorrect camera
observaon angle.

INSTALLATION
CAMERA POSITIONING
• The camera should be positioned as directly in front of incoming people as possible. The
camera’s yaw angle should not exceed 15 °
• To minimize masking of the face while observing a group of people, the camera should be placed
slightly higher than the assumed average level on which the faces of people passing by are
located. Recommended tilt angle is 10 ° ± 3 °
• The field of view of the camera depends on its sensor and optical parameters. Too wide field of
view leads to blur in captured face photos. Therefore, it is important to choose the right width of
the observation field, depending on your camera. To estimate this parameter, the following table
may be helpful:
Camera sensor resolution Recommended field of view width
2MPX 2.5m
4MPX 3.3m
6MPX 4m
8MPX (4K) 5m

INSTALLATION
• Pupil distance is a very important parameter for facial recognition. To distinguish the details of a
human face, it is necessary to fit in the field of 120x120 pixels. Then the pupils are about 40
pixels apart, which is optimal for recognition.
• The camera mounting height results from the assumptions given earlier and can be estimated
based on the following formula:
Camera mounting height (H): H = W + tanα * D
Where:
D - observation distance
W - average level on which faces of the observed people are located
α - camera tilt angle. For a recommended angle of 10 ° tanα = 0.18

INSTALLATION
FREQUENTLY SELECTED MOUNTING PLACES (EXAMPLES)
• Communication nodes are mainly train stations, bus stations, airports and so on. In these
facilities, typical installation locations are entrances to the building (on the premises), passage
through security gates. At the airport, cameras can also be set up in communication routes to
ticket offices, service points, customs clearance points, etc.
• Metro - in this case it is recommended to focus on metro stations around densely populated
areas. At the metro station, the main observation areas are at the entrance/exit of the metro, gates,
pedestrian crossings and escalators.
• Shopping centers, supermarkets, convenience store chains - it is generally recommended to
install cameras at the entrance and in front of the escalators. Considering the issues related to the
field of view width (2.5 meters and more), it is recommended that the stairs and the entrance are
observed with separate cameras.
• Hotels - in the hotels cameras should be located primarily at the entrance or near elevators.
Taking into account the lighting, observation priority should be given to the transition to the
elevators.
• Residential communities - choosing a mounting location is mainly observing the entry and exit
from the community. The goal is to register the faces of all people entering and leaving.
• Hospitals - the main application is the separation of people and vehicles, registration of people
entering/leaving, personnel access.

WPROWADZENIE
Niektóre modele kamer IP serii 4000 z funkcją analizy obrazu, są wyposażone w zaawansowaną wersję
funkcji rozpoznawania twarzy. Funkcja ta stawia określone wymagania odnośnie miejsca i sposobu
instalacji kamery. Dlatego, aby zapewnić wysoką skuteczność rozpoznawania, firma Novus zaleca aby
podczas montażu kamery kierować się wskazówkami zawartymi w niniejszej instrukcji.
WPROWADZENIE
Niniejsza instrukcja ma charakter poglądowy, a rysunki i schematy w niej zawarte mają jedynie
ilustrować opisywane opcje.
Ze względu na wysokie wymagania funkcji rozpoznawania twarzy dotyczące wyboru sceny i
miejsca instalacji kamery, niemożliwe jest podanie szczegółowych wskazówek. Najlepszy efekt
można uzyskać jedynie poprzez analizę konkretnych problemów i wymagań użytkownika, oraz
rozmieszczenie kamery adekwatnie do określonego środowiska.
