Safety
READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
WARNING:
Solar panels produce electricity. Be aware at all times of the risk of electrical
shock. Do not make any cuts or changes to the included wiring as this may
increase the risk of electrical short-circuits or electric shocks.
!
1. Avoid electrical hazards when installing, wiring, operating, and maintaining this
solar panel. This solar panel generates DC electricity when exposed to sunlight or
other light sources.
2. For use in 12 V systems only.
3. Observe proper polarity throughout entire power cable wiring route.
4. Work Safely. Do not wear jewellery when working with electrical or mechanical
equipment. Use protective eyewear when working with batteries or drills. Use
extreme caution when on ladders or on a roof.
5. Follow all safety precautions of the battery manufacturer (battery not included).
Some batteries can release flammable hydrogen gas. Do not produce sparks when
working in locations where flammable gases or vapours exist. Shield skin and eyes
from battery acid. Wash thoroughly with water if skin or clothing come in contact
with acid or any corrosive matter which may have accumulated on the battery.
Keep the terminals and casing clean.
6. Use of a charge controller (not included) is always recommended.
7. Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable or frozen batteries.

CHARGE
CONTROLLER
12V
not included
not included
The 75 W solar panel will require a solar charge
controller (not included) in order to charge a
12 V battery.
Always follow the instructions included with
the charge controller to ensure a safe battery
charging process.
Connect the red (positive) wire from the solar
panel to the positive terminal on the solar
charge controller. Make the same connection
on the black (negative) wire.
To connect these wires it is advisable to use a
wire nut connector (not included).
Ensure your solar panel is placed so that its exposure to sun is optimized.
Be aware of objects such as trees or property overhangs that may impede
the panel’s ability to generate a charge.
The frame of your solar panel has pre-drilled screw holes (see page 4) for easy
mounting onto any surface.

Questions Answers
What can be done if the wires are too short? Contact the manufacturer for a list of
additional parts to purchase.
How do I know if the panel is producing
voltage?
Use a multimeter (not included) to
accurately read the panel’s voltage. Under
full sun the multimeter should read
18-22 V DC.
Does the solar panel drain the battery at
night?
The solar panel has integrated blocking
diodes to prevent any reverse charge at
night.
Can my panel be left outdoors without a
protective covering?
Yes, the solar panel has been
weatherproofed and can be mounted
outdoors without any additional
protection.
Can the solar panel overcharge my battery? Yes, but only if used without a charge
controller. Always use in conjunction
with an appropriately-sized solar charge
controller.
Can I run my 110 V appliances with my solar
power system?
Yes, you can run 110 V appliances with the
use of an inverter (not included) which
would attach to your battery to change the
battery’s 12 V (DC) energy into
110 V (AC).
What kind of battery can I recharge? See “Choosing Your Battery” on page 7.
Troubleshooting
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning of the solar panel may be performed with a clean, damp cloth. Any other
maintenance to the unit should be performed by a qualified service professional or

Choosing your battery involves some careful consideration. You can consult with a
local battery supplier or follow these simple guidelines.
• Choose only rechargeable 12 V batteries.
• SLA (Sealed Lead Acid), GEL, and AGM are all ideal choices. We do not advise
using lithium-ion batteries with this solar panel.
• ‘Deep Cycle’ or Marine batteries are optimum for solar-charging systems. They
allow discharge and recharge characteristics beyond a standard vehicle battery.
• Batteries are rated in amp-hours — this denes a battery’s ability to hold and release
its charge. The higher the amp-hour rating, the more power available.
Choosing Your Battery:
