basic phone set-up
A (U)SIM card is an enhanced version of the SIM card and
is supported by UMTS mobile phones.
Important: Keep all SIM cards out of reach of children. Switch
off device and/or disconnect charger before removing the
battery. For availability and information on using SIM card
services, contact your local mobile operator or service provider.
Insert the SIM or (U)SIM card
and battery
1With the back of the device facing
you, press and hold the release
button, slide the cover, and lift it up.
2To release the (U)SIM card holder,
slide the holder to the right, and
lift the holder up.
3 Insert the (U)SIM card into the card
holder. Ensure that the bevelled
corner on the card is facing the
bevelled corner on the holder, and
that the contact area on the card is
facing down. Slide the holder to the
left, back to the slot to lock the holder
into place.
4Insert the battery.
5 Replace the cover so that the locking

1Press and hold the power key.
2If the device asks for a PIN
code or lock code, enter it, and

Switch the device on
Note: Your device has internal antennas. As with any radio
transmitting device, avoid touching an antenna unnecessarily
when the antenna is in use. For example, avoid touching
the cellular antenna during a phone call. Contact with a
transmitting or receiving antenna affects the quality of the
radio communication, may cause the device to operate at a
higher power level than otherwise needed, and may reduce
the battery life.
1Connect a compatible charger to a
wall outlet.
2Connect the power cord to the
device. If the battery is completely
discharged, it may take a while
before the charging indicator starts
scrolling.
3When the battery is fully charged, the charging
indicator stops scrolling. Disconnect the charger from
the device, then from the wall outlet.
Charge the battery
Bluetooth technology/
wireless LAN antenna
Cellular antenna
GPS receiver
Tip: Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet when the
charger is not in use. A charger that is connected to the
outlet consumes power even when it is not connected to
the device.
