1. Insert the device interface cable (fig. 3) into the device interface port (fig. 1-7).
2. To remove the device interface cable, pull back on the finger grip to release the
clamping mechanism.
3. The RS232 PC Interface cable is for internal Night Optics USA use only.
4. The USB cable can be connected to any Microsoft Windows™ based computer to
access the contents of the SD Card. When connected the device controls will not
function.
5. The Video out cable (RCA Jack) can be connected to any TV or Monitor that accepts
video input. Video display is in NTSC format only.
6. The 9v DC cable can be used to power the device externally.
Battery Installation
For optimal battery performance it is recommended that 2500 mAh or higher NiMH
rechargeable batteries or standard non-rechargeable Lithium batteries are used. It is not
recommended to mix batteries. To install batteries into your device, open the battery door
(fig. 1-8 & 11) and follow the polarity diagram inside the battery compartment to properly
install batteries. Once installation is complete, ensure the battery door is closed
completely before powering on the device.
Battery Status
The battery status indicator can be found in the upper-left corner of the display when
looking through the eyepiece (fig. 1-1). Battery power level should display as follows:

NOTE:
For optimal battery life and performance, it is recommended that you fully
discharge the rechargeable batteries before charging for the first time. On
the initial charge, allow to charge fully. This should take 4-6 hours.

Battery Charging
A battery charger, rechargeable batteries and all necessary cables have been provided as
part of your kit. Please read the following carefully to ensure proper use.
1. Install the batteries into the charger according the diagram on the charger.
2. Connect the appropriate wire for wall charging or car charging
3. An LCD screen will indicate proper installation by displaying an icon of the battery
charging.
4. Once the batteries are charged the unit will shut itself off to avoid damage to the unit or
to the batteries.
WARNING:
1. Do not attempt to recharge batteries while inside the Thermal device.
2. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
3. Properly dispose of bloated, deformed, corroded or leaking batteries.
4. Always use the correct cables with the charging unit.
Menu Mode
After start-up, press/hold the “M” button (fig. 2-1), the menu bar will appear with a
loading indicator on the screen. Press the “+” & “-” buttons (fig. 2-3 & 4) to navigate the
menu. Press the “M” (fig. 2-1) button momentarily to select the menu item.

Help Menu
In menu mode scroll to the menu option “Help” and press the “M” button to select the
Help Menu. Press the “+” & “-” buttons to navigate the Help Menu. Press “M” to exit the
Help Menu.
Button Layout Menu (Note)
Scroll to the menu option “Note” and press the “M” button to turn icon display on the right
side of the screen “On or Off.” This mode also activates on-screen instructions.
Image Adjustment Menu - Auto/Semi-auto mode setting
In menu mode scroll to the menu option “Auto/Semi Auto/Manual” and press “M” to
switch between Auto, Semi-auto and manual Brightness and contrast control mode
In the above table shows how much control the user will have over Brightness (G) (Gain)
and Contrast (O) (Offset).
Brightness and Contrast Adjustment
In automatic mode, the device will automatically determine the appropriate Brightness (G)
(Gain) and Contrast (O) (Offset) for the best possible image display.
In semiautomatic mode, the user can adjust image brightness (G) (Gain). The device will
automatically set image contrast (O) (Offset) as per your brightness input.
In manual mode, the user has full control over brightness (G) (Gain) and contrast (O)
(Offset).

Image & Video Playback Menu (Replay)
In menu mode scroll to the menu option “Replay” and press the “M” button. Follow the
on-screen instructions to navigate between images and video content stored on the SD
Card (fig. 1-9), play and/or delete. See examples below

Formatting the SD Card (Format)
In menu mode scroll to the menu option “Format” and press the “M” button. You will be
prompted with a dialogue box. Follow the on-screen instructions. You have the option to
exit this feature or confirm that you would like to continue formatting the SD Card. Once
the process is complete the dialogue box will confirm a successful reformat, at which
point you can you follow the on-screen instruction to exit.
Standby Menu
Standby mode operates using an IR based proximity sensor (fig. 1-10) located next to the
eyepiece (fig. 1-1). When not in use for the selected period of time the unit will automati-
cally shut itself down. Bringing the unit back up to your eye will reactivate. The longer the
unit remains in standby mode the longer it should take to power back on. In menu mode
scroll to the menu option “Standby” and press the “M” button. You can select 5 mode
options. 4 minutes; 10 minutes; 15 minutes; 20 minutes; Off (Default).
Default Menu (Device Reset)
In menu mode scroll to the menu option “Default” and press the “M” button. You will be
prompted with a dialogue box. Follow the on-screen instructions. You have the option to
exit this feature or confirm that you would like to continue to reset the unit to factory
settings.

WARNING:
Using this feature will reset all device settings. Upon confirmation, the unit
and all settings will be restored to the original factory setting. Make notes
of specific settings that you like so that you can restore them later.
