Die Gebrauchsanleitung weist auf die bestim-
mungsgemäße Verwendung des Produktes hin und
dient zur Verhütung von Gefahren. Sie muss gelesen
und beachtet werden. Die von MSA AUER für dieses
Produkt übernommene Garantie verfällt, wenn es
nicht entsprechend den MSA AUER-Angaben einge-
setzt bzw. verwendet, gepflegt, gewartet und kontrol-
liert wird.
Auswahl und Einsatz des Produktes unterliegen nicht
dem Einfluss von MSA AUER, sondern obliegen dem
Verwender. Unsere Haftung bezieht sich daher nu

4 Verwendung 4 Intended Use
MSA AUER SAVOXist ein von der Umgebungsatmo-
sphäre unabhängig wirkendes Atemschutzgerät fü
r
die Selbstrettung. Das Notfallgerät für die Flucht kann
wegen seiner kompakten Abmessungen und seines
geringen Gewichtes am Mann mitgeführt und in weni-
gen Sekunden angelegt werden. Es schützt den Ge-
rätträger vor Schadstoffen in der Umgebungsatmo-
sphäre und auch gegen Sauerstoffmangel. De

SAVOXdarf nur einmal eingesetzt werden.
Gebrauchte oder geöffnete Geräte müssen durch
neue bzw. instandgesetzte Geräte ersetzt werden.
Der SAVOXerfüllt die Anforderungen gemäß EN 401
für eine nominelle Haltezeit von 30 Minuten. Das Ge-
rät ist für den Bergbau unter Tage zugelassen
(”spezieller Einsatz”).
The MSA AUER S
AVOXis a self-contained respira-
tory protection device for self-rescue. With its com-
pact dimensions and low weight the escape appara-
tus can be worn continuously and is donned within
seconds. It protects the users against contaminants in
the atmosphere as well as oxygen deficiency. The
SAVOXis designed for one-time use.
Apparatus that have been used or where the con-
tainer has been opened must be replaced by new o
r
reconditioned devices.
The SAVOXmeets the requirements according to
EN 401 for a nominal service time of 30 minutes. It is
approved for underground mining („special applica-
tion“).

5 Funktion 5 Operating Principle
Der Sauerstoffselbstretter versorgt den Gerätträge
r
mit Sauerstoff, der aus einem Chemikal (KO2) entwik-
kelt wird. Kohlendioxid und Wasserdampf der Ausa-
temluft reagieren mit dem Chemikal, wobei diese Be-
standteile aus der Atemluft entfernt werden und Sau-
erstoff entsprechend der Intensität der Atmung zuge-
führt wird.
Das Gerät ist mit einem Starter ausgerüstet, der beim
Anlegen des Gerätes automatisch ausgelöst wird und
den Atembeutel zusätzlich mit Sauerstoff füllt. Beim
Beatmen des Gerätes erwärmt sich der Chemikalka-
nister und allmählich auch die Einatemluft. Das ist
normal und zeigt die einwandfreie Funktion des Ge-
rätes an.
Der Sauerstoffvorrat geht zur Neige, wenn die Einat-
mung schwerer wird und der Atembeutel beginnt, zu-
sammenzufallen.
The oxygen self-rescuer supplies the user with oxy-
gen which is generated from a chemical (KO2). Car-
bon dioxide and humidity of the exhalation air react
with the chemical. This reaction removes these com-
ponents from the air and generates oxygen according
to the intensity of breathing.
The apparatus is equipped with a starter which starts
automatically when the device is donned. It fills addi-
tional oxygen into the breathing bag. During breathing
from the apparatus the chemical canister gradually
gets warm, as does the inhalation air. This is normal
and indicates that the apparatus is functioning prop-
erly.
The supply of oxygen is running short when inhalation
becomes more difficult and the breathing bag begins
to collapse.

Der SAVOXist nur für den Einsatz zu öffnen!
Feuchtigkeit aus der Umgebungsluft kann sonst in
das offene Gerät eindringen und dessen Funktion
beeinträchtigen.
Es besteht Zündgefahr, wenn bei Zerstörung des
Gerätes die sauerstofferzeugende Chemikalie mit
brennbaren Substanzen, z.B. Kohle, in Berührung
kommt!

The SAVOXmust only be opened for actual use!
Otherwise humidity from the ambient air can enter
the apparatus and diminish the functioning.
There is an ignition danger in case the apparatus
is destroyed and the oxygen generating chemical
comes into contact with combustible substances,
e.g. coal.

9 Kontrollen 9 Inspection
Sichtkontrolle außen,
vor und nach jedem Mitführen des Gerätes
Behälter auf Beschädigungen, starke Verschmutzung,
einwandfreien Indikator und auf einwandfreie Plombe
überprüfen. Nicht einwandfreie, beschädigte, ver-
beulte oder geöffnete Geräte müssen instandge-
setzt werden. Bei starker Verschmutzung ist der Be-
hälter zu säubern (keine Metallbürste verwenden).
Visual check of container
Prior and after carrying apparatus
Check outside container for damage, heavy dirt, intact
indicator and intact lead seal. Apparatus that are not
intact, damaged, dented or opened must be re-
conditioned. Very dirty containers must be cleaned.
(Do not use a metal brush.)

10 Gebrauch 10 Donning, Use
Das Gerätes läßt sich mit wenigen, einfachen Hand-
griffen schnell anlegen (ca. 20 Sekunden). The apparatus is donned quickly (approx. 20 sec-
