Updated the Interface diagram and connector pinouts

related to the power supply inputs and the serial

communications interface to use instrument earth /

GND (IE). See Figure 1-2, Ta ble 2-7 , Table 2 -8 and

Table 2-13.

Updated 3.2.2 Power supply and 3.2.3 Grounding, and

added 3.2.4 Shielding, in order to clarify power supply,

grounding and shielding requirements as per the technical

note (TN_SSY-20210729-1). Also added 3.2.8 Sensor /

input channel interface circuitry.

Updated Table 3-12 to correct 2oo3 voting logic using

safety relay 2 of SpeedSys300 ODS301 modules.

Pins B22 and B23 (safety relay 2) are now used instead of

the incorrect pins B18 and B19 (safety relay 1).

Added specifications for the SpeedSys300 ODS301

module’s screw-terminal connectors (see Tabl e 3 -1 3 ).

Added new information on SpeedSys300 software

language files in order to clarify their use.

See 4.2.1 Language pack files.

Updated 4.5.4 Example configuration files to include all

configuration files (*.ssy) included with the SpeedSys300

software.

Updated 4.6.1 Changing the Admin access level password

to include information on permitted passwords.

Updated 5.5.1 Diagnostics tab – Diagnostics to include

“Analog output readback difference” as per the service

bulletin (FSB_SSY-20210714-1).

Added 7 Electrical connections in order to provide a more

detailed wiring diagram for a typical SpeedSys300 ODS301

overspeed detection system (ODS) using a TQ9xx-based

proximity measurement chain.

About this manual

This manual provides information on the SpeedSys300 ODS301 overspeed detection system

(ODS), from Meggitt’s vibro-meter® product line.

It offers information concerning the installation, configuration and general use of systems

using ODS301 modules for overspeed, underspeed and/or acceleration detection and

protection applications.

Who should use this manual?

This manual is intended for qualified personnel such as designers and operators of

monitoring/control and/or protection systems in safety-related applications that use a

SpeedSys300 ODS301 overspeed detection system (ODS).

NOTE: Personnel involved in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of

Meggitt vibro-meter® systems are assumed to have the necessary technical

training in safety, reliability, electronics and/or mechanical engineering

(professional certificate/diploma or equivalent) to enable them to design, install,

configure, use and/or maintain such systems correctly and safely.

Adhere to the instructions!

The procedures described in this manual should be strictly adhered to in order to ensure that

SpeedSys300 ODS301 overspeed detection system (ODS) modules and their associated

equipment are properly installed. This ensures that measurement signals are reliable and

systems function as intended.

The user should adhere to general safety procedures as well as general and specific machine

constructor guidelines and instructions.

Limitations of this document

Not all mounting and connecting possibilities are described in this manual. Nevertheless,

several specific configurations are described in detail. These can often be adapted to specific

applications (contact your local Meggitt representative or Meggitt SA for further information).
