Thank you for purchasing your Martec Ariel Series product. Please read all instrucons
carefully before assembly and use.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Read these instrucons carefully before installing or using the product. Keep the
instrucons handy for future reference.
SAFETY
Installaon of fans must follow SAA standards and meet local Authority regulaons. A
fully qualied and licensed electrician lawfully must carry out installaon.
Means for discconecon must be incorporated in the xed wiring in accordance
with wiring rules. Fan and light must be earthed. Bracket must be rmly aahced to
a solid structure, i.e. concrete ceiling, steel s tructure, mber frame, etc. Addionally,
the bracket must be nailed between beams if the mber opon is required.
WARNING
Only approved Martec speed controllers and remote controls should be used for the
operaon of Martec fans. The use of unauthorized controllers will void the warranty.
Do not mix blades from one fan to another. All blades must be replaced if damaged.
Important: Always operate the product from a power source of the same voltage,
frequecny and rang as on the product idencaon plate.
Important: The fan is to be installed so that the blades are more than 2.1 metres
above the oor.
Fan blade assembly can also be done on the oor prior to installing on the ceiling.
This can be done by placing the fan on the foam insert provided in the fan carton/
box.
Important: Be careful not to bend the blades when installing them on the oor as
this will cause the fan to be unbalanced and wobble and cannot be reced without
replacing the full set of 4 blades.
Avoid contacng moving parts. Keep hands, hair, and clothing well away from the
product while it is in operaon.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilies, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instrucon concerning the use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Youn children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Do not operate any product which has been, or appears to have been, damage in
any manner or aer the product malfuncons.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not install the product where
it can be exposed to rain, moisture or any liquid. With the excepon of Martec’s
Precision 316 Stainless Steel fan (which can be installed in covered or enclosed
outdoor environments), all of Martec’s (and FourSeasons) ceiling fans should not
be used in outdoor environments. Proceed at your own risk as the use of our fans
(with the excepon of the Precision 316) outdoors will void the warranty.
Do not operate this product in the presence of explosive fumes and/or ammable
liquid.
Do not use the product for anything other than its intended use as described in
these instrucons. This product is intended for normal domesc household use
only. The use of accessory aachments other than those recommended by Martec
Pty Ltd may cause safety hazards.

WARNING: Do not install or use fan if any part is
damaged or missing
HOW TO ASSEMBLE
1. Secure the hanging bracket to ceiling beam or a suitable piece of mber inserted
between the ceiling beams. Martec Pty Ltd recommends the bracket be aached
with four (4) long wood screws as supplied within the packaging. (See Fig 1)
NOTE: Martec Pty Ltd assumes that the installaon of this ceiling fan is carried out
as per the instrucon manual i.e. mounted to a solid mber structure. It is the
purchasers responsbility to ensure that the installan electrician has carried out the
installaon of this ceiling fan as per the instrucon manual. Should any noise
emintate from this ceiling fan, it is the purchasers responsbility to have their electrician
check the installaon of the fan. Steel beams, grid ceilings and exible surfaces will
not absorb vibraon and may cause some audible noise due to the vibraon. This
is not a fault of the fan ans as such is not covered under warranty.
2. Place fan into hanging bracket and connect all cables to the terminal block. (See
Fig 2) At this point c heck every screw, nut, and bolt to ensure that they are as ght
as they can be, as they can work loose during shipping. This will avoid the risk of
any unnecessary wobbling.
3. Aer wiring is complete, aach the fan to the mounng bracket using the four
(4) screws and washers provided. Install a screw and washer on each side of the
mounng bracket (a total of two (2) should be used), and hang the fan onto the
screws using the adjustable slots. (See Fig 3.1 to 3.3) Once this is done, installe the
remaining two (2) screws and washers and ghten all four (4) screws rmly.

INSTALLING BLADES
Insert blades one at a me through slots in the motor housing. Secure each blade
with three screws and washers as provided, through the opening in the light disc.
(See Fig 4)
Once you have nished installing all four (4) blades, either screw on the boom
plate (if you have the MAF114 model, See Fig 5) or install lamp and glass shade (if
you have the MAF1142 model, See Fig 6).
Warning: Do not mix blade sets from one fan to another. If only one blade is damaged
you are sll required to replace with a full new set. Do not overghten the blade
screws as this may cause creaking noises which are not covered under warranty.
REMOVING AND REPLACING THE LIGHT BULB / SHADE
Carefully twist the light shade an-clockwise to remove. Once the lamp is ed,
place glass shade into light base and twist clockwise. (See Fig 6)
Warning: Do not overghten light shade as expansion and contracon of metal
housing may cause lamp shade to get stuck.
INSTALLING 26W PLT LAMP
Only use 26W PLT lamps in this fan. Insert 26W PLT lamp into the lamp holder by
pusing gently. (See Fig 7)
NOTE: Be sure to hold 26W PLT lamp from the lamp base and not the glass tubes,
as pressure on the glass tubes will cause the lamp to break and render the lamp
unoperable.
USE IN ALL SEASONS
Always ensure that the fan is set to “OFF” and the blades have stopped rotang prior
to changed the direcon the blades rotate.
The reverse switch on the fan sohuld be set to “SUMMER” (Forward moon) during
warmer seasons to move the blades in an an-clockwise direcon, and “WINTER”
(Reverse moon) during cooler seasons to move the blades in a clockwise direcon.

This fan is equipped with a frequency type remote control which is installed into
the mounng bracket which is housed inside the top canopy fro controlling the fan
speeds and light. Please refer to the instrucon sheet packed with the remote control
unit for m ore informaon about the wiring and installaon of the remote control
unit.
NOTE: Only the remote control supplied within this packaging or remote controls
approved by Martec Pty Ltd can be used with this fan in order to avoid the voiding
of the warranty.
NOTE: Once ground wires are connected, carefully tuck wires and marree into the
top canopy, making sure that the wires are clear of the hemisphere and downrod
when posioned in the mounng bracket.
