REMOVAL OF THE FACTORY AIR BOX
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Disconnect sensor connections;
a. The MAF plug on the intake hose. Push down on the small tab on the harness side and
gently pull the plug out. Do not pry or damage will occur.
b. The wiring harnesses on the intake hose at the PCV hose junction.
3. Remove the PCV hose from the cam cover.
4. Loosen the hose clamp connecting the MAF housing to the turbo inlet hose.
5. Loosen the hose clamp holding the intake hose to the turbo.
6. Remove the Intake hose from the engine.
7. Unclip the (3) sensor tubes clipped to the factory intake box. (2 on the LS and (1) in the back of the
factory air box) Do not remove the tubes from the car- just unclip.
8. Remove the (2) T-27 screws connecting the MAF housing to the factory intake box.
9. Remove the MAF housing from the factory air box. Set the MAF housing aside in a safe place.
The sensor is delicate.
10. Remove the (3) T-25 screws holding the factory intake box cover to the base.
11. Remove the air box cover and the factory air cleaner element.
12. Fully loosen (1) T-25 screw on the RS (passenger side) of the air box that connects the air box
base to the engine.
13. Pull the air box base straight up to disconnect it from the engine. It will take some effort to
disengage the base from the interference fit rubber grommets but do not pry on it. Human force is
sufficient. Once the base is free, rotate it approximately 1/8 to 1/4 turn towards the rear of the car
while at the same time pulling it apart from the factory fresh air hose. If the grommets come free
from the intake manifold reinstall them now. They are need to mount the AGS-R2

14. Remove the factory fresh air intake hose from
the front inlet attachment. With a flathead
screwdriver, release the intake hose from the bezel in
the front of the car (near the headlight). When the
hose is disconnected, remove it from the car by
twisting it counter-clockwise out of place. You will no
longer need this hose. NOTE: It is recommended you
keep all the factory parts to reinstall at a later date if
needed.
PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION
1. In order to keep the wiring harness safe
from chaffing, the MAF sensor has to be
slightly rotated before the M7 AGS-R2
is installed. Cut a similar MAF sensor
notch in the hose about ¼ of an inch to
the left of the original notch. Check MAF
housing fit but do not reconnect to the
MAF sensor at this time.

2. (Optional) This is a good time to clean your MAF sensor using a specially formulated sensor
cleaner you can buy at any local Autoparts store.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the modified inlet hose onto the turbo. Do not tighten clamp at this time.
2. Reconnect the sensor hoses and wiring harness to the intake hose. Keep the MAF sensor’s wiring
harness disconnected at this time.
3. Reconnect the PCV recirculation tube on the passenger side of the engine block.
4. Remove the (2) 6 mm bolts circled in RED. Use a 10mm socket and ratchet.
5. If available, place a small amount of high temperature
anti-seize or copper slip on the threads of the front mount
bolts (M6-1.0x100mm & 110mm). Install the bolts with
washers through the top of the front mounting bracket (and
the heat shield if purchased separately). Slide the
appropriate aluminum spacer onto its respective bolt from
the underside.
NOTE: The attachment hardware is not identical in
length. One bolt is slightly longer than the other. The
longer bolt and spacer goes on the passenger side of
the heat shield while the shorter bolt and spacer
attaches to the driver’s side.
6. Holding the tops of the bolts with your thumbs, the spacers between your 3rd and 4th fingers and
the front bracket (and optional heat shield) captured in between, install the heat shield over the
turbocharger and align the bolts into the attachment holes on the engine. You will be able to see

these holes by looking from the side. Once in place screw the bolts into the attachment holes until
they are hand tight. Be careful not to cross thread the holes! Tighten using a 5 MM hex wrench.
Torque to 30 in-lbs (3.4 Nm)
7. Mount the rear bracket onto the AGS-R2 Air Box. Place the rear bracket on the bottom of the air
box with the bend and (2) mounting legs at the back. Use (2) #10-32x1/2” lg button head screws
and flat washers. Thread the screws through the air box into the floating nut plates mounted to the
rear bracket. Use 1/8” hex driver. NOTE: The screws will start easy and then tighten up as you
continue to screw in. This is normal. The nuts are self-locking so the screws do not loosen in
operation. Do not fully tighten until the final alignment.
8. Lubricate the 2 mounting legs on the AGS-R2 rear mount with foaming window cleaner or a very
light film of oil. Push the rear mounting legs into the (2) rearmost rubber grommets which located
the factory air box base. The AGS-R2 will snap into place.
9. Attach the front of the AGS-R2 to the front bracket mounted above the turbo. Use (2) #10-32 x 1/2”
lg button head screws and (2) flat washers. Insert the screws with washers through the AGS-R2 at
the air inlet (front of air box) and through the mounting bracket. Place a flat washer and locking nut
on each screw. Use 1/8” hex wrench and 3/8” combination wrench
NOTE. If the holes in the AGS-R2 do no align with the slots in the front bracket adjust the
position of the air box. You may need to elongate the holes in the airbox housing to get
alignment.
10. Once the front mounting holes are aligned tighten the (2) front mounting screws and the (2) rear
mounting screws to 20 in-lbs (2.3 Nm).
11. Install the silicone elbow and clamps supplied with your kit onto the air outlet tube on the AGS-R2.
Do not tighten.
12. Install the MAF housing between the factory air inlet hose and silicone elbow. Verify it is installed
in the proper air flow position. The sensor only works in on direction | air flowing from the AGS-R2
towards the Turbo.
13. Align everything in the air tract to eliminate any stresses or twists. Once you are satisfied with the
alignment, tighten the (3) hose clamps. If necessary you can trim the silicone elbow using masking
tape as a guide and a hack saw to cut it. If you cut the elbow thoroughly clean the inside to remove
any leftover particles and dirt.
14. Plug in the MAF sensor electrical connector.

15. Install the supplied air filter. Before installation wipe the inside of the black rubber cuff to thoroughly
clean the inside of the filter of any excess oil.
16. Slip the filter cuff over the neck on the inside of
the airbox until the grove in the filter and bead on the
neck engage. Tighten the clamp.
17. Connect the 2 supplied zip-ties
together. Route the zip-tie around the
filter, through the bracket on the base
of the airbox and connect it to the
opposite end. Pull the zip-tie tight DO
NOT TIGHTEN TO THE POINT AT
WHICH IT CRUSHES THE FILTER.
18. Cut off excess zip-tie material.
19. Safety check | Check that all hardware & clamps are tight, all electrical connections are plugged in
and all hoses and necessary parts are installed properly.
20. Reconnect battery.
21. Remove the blocker plate from your scoop if it is still installed. NOTE: The M7 Vortex 2 Scoop is
designed to work with this intake system and provides maximum fresh air flow to your engine.
22. Slowly close the hood and check for any interference between the air box housing and hood.
Minor trimming or removal of your under hood insulation pad may be required for adequate
clearance. Trimming of the airbox inlet for hood clearance may also be required by the end user.
