IntroducingtheIntuitousEnergyConservationSystem
Withmostset‐backthermostats,theonlywaytorealizesignificantcostsavingsisiftheoccupantshavea
vestedinterestinenergyconservationandhighlypredictableoccupancypatterns.Andeventhen,theyhaveto
understandhowtoprogramandmanagethedevice.
WithIntuitous,thesystemautomaticallymonitorsoccupancy,currenttemperature,highandlowtemperature
thresholds,aswellasopendoorsandwindows.Insteadofaskingyouroccupantstogenerate20‐35%energy
savings,Intuitousdoesitforyouseamlesslyandautomaticallywithoutcompromisingoccupantcomfort.

dramaticallyreducingyourenergycosts.Intuitousoffersyouamoreflexibleandmanageableapproach

System.ThesensorprovidestheIntuitousHVACControllerwithhumanpresenceinformationthatenablesthe
intelligentcontrollertomakedecisionsaboutwhentoconserveenergy.
Theceilingmountdesignenablesoptimalrangeandaccuracyandblendsintotheroom’sdecor.Inadditionto
detectinghumanbodypresence,thesensoralsodetectstheleveloflightingintheroomtoenableoptional
nightsetbackmodes.Theoccupancysensorcontinuallymonitorsthespaceforhumanpresence;however
intelligentcircuitryoptimizescommunicationwiththecontrollertoensuremaximumbatterylife.Undertypical
conditions,thesensorsbatterieswilllastupto4years.

1. TheIntuitoussensorsandcontrollerscontainsensitiveelectroniccomponents.Pleasedonottouchthe
electroniccomponentstoavoidtheriskofelectrostaticdischarge.
2. PleaseensurethatALLbatteriesareinsertedintothesensorcorrectlyasmarkedonthedevice.
Incorrectlyinsertedbatteriescandamagethebatteriesand/orthesensor.
3. PleaseDONOTmodifyorattempttorepairthecontrollerorsensorsasthiswillvoidthewarranty.
Maintenance
TheIntuitousEnergyConservationSystemshouldrequireveryminimalmaintenance.Thewirelessoccupancy
sensorsarepoweredbyreadilyavailable“AA”Alkalinebatteries.Undertypicalconditionsthebatterieswill
lastupto4years.Giventherelativeeaseandlowcostofbatterychanges,werecommendascheduled
maintenanceroutineeverytwoyearstochangethebatteriesandvisuallyinspectthecomponentsforduston
theoccupancysensororotherobstructionsthatcouldinterferewithproperoperationofthesystem.

InstallingtheOccupancySensor(s)
SelectingaLocationfortheSensor
Caremustbetakentoselectthebestpossiblelocationfortheoccupancysensortoensureoptimum
performance.TheIntuitoussensorsweredesignedforceilingmountingtomaximizetherangeandaccuracy
andtominimizethevisualdesignimpact.Largeroomsmayrequiremultipleoccupancysensors,althoughmost
hotelroomsandbachelorstyleapartmentscanbeservicedquitewellwithasinglesensor.
Typically,aonebedroomapartmentwillrequire2sensors(1forthebedroomand1forthecommonliving
space).Similarly,a2bedroomapartmentwillrequire3sensors.Themaximumnumberofsensorsthatcanbe
connectedtoasinglecontrolleris40.
Eachsensorwilldetecthumanpresencewithina12ft.radiusofthesensor’slocation.Dependingontheshape
oftheroomandlocationoffurniture,onesensorwillhandlearoomsizefrom600to800squarefeet.
ConnectingtheSensortotheController
EachIntuitousOccupancysensorhasauniqueIDthatissenttothecontrollereachtimeittransmits.This
uniqueIDneedstobelearnedbythecontrollersoitcanensurethatitisreceivingavalidtransmission.Itisalso
importantforthecontrollertoknowwhichsensorthetransmissionhascomefrom.Consideramulti‐story
hotelorcondobuildingwithadjacentsuitesbeside,aboveandbelow.EachControllermustbetaughttoonly
listentosensorsthatareinstalledinthesamesuite.
SinceeachsensorhasauniqueID,thecontrollersimplyneedstolearntheID’sforeachsensorthatitshould
listento.LearningtheseID’sisaverysimpleprocessthatinvolvesclickingonthecontroller’s“learn”button
andthenclickingonthesensor’s“learn”button.Thesestepsarecoveredinmoredetailinthecontrollerinstall
guide.
MountingtheSensor
Locatethesensor’sbaseontheceilingandfastenusingtwo#6screwsineitheroftheopposingholesinthe
base.Insertthebottomhalfofthesensorintothebaseandtwistuntilyouhearaclick.
