4.0 Operating Instructions
4.1 General Guidelines
4.1.1 Make sure the specimen smears are thoroughly dry before placing them
into the cuvette.
4.1.2 Use high quality clean slides. We recommend ProSlide Premium, Frosted
End, Slides (Cat. no. PF72P). Slides that have variable thickness may have
variable staining results.
4.1.3 Replace the tubing every 6 to 12 months following the maintenance
protocol.
4.1.4 Do not leave the stained slide in the cuvette for an extended period of
time. It will not dry as rapidly and quality could diminish.
4.2 Stain Procedure
4.2.1 Turn the instrument on and the instrument will go through a self-test and
display prime or continue.
4.2.2 The unit needs to be primed at least two times before staining slides.
4.2.3 Press <F4>. Choose the desired type of stain and press <F1> for blood
smears or <F4> for bone marrow smears.
4.2.4 Press <F4> and the cuvette will be prepared.
4.2.5 Load the slide with specimen facing out to the front (towards you) and
press <STAIN>.
4.2.6 When done, remove the slide and press <F4> to continue.
4.2.7 Wipe the back side of the slide and let completely dry before viewing
under the microscope.
4.3 Reagent Replacement
4.3.1 Turn the instrument off.
4.3.2 Remove the cannulas from the empty Reagent Pack.
4.3.3 Unplug the phone connector from the instrument and remove the empty
Reagent Pack. Empty the waste container at this time.
4.3.4 Pace the new Reagent Pack on the instrument, connect the phone
connector and place the color-coded cannulas in the new appropriate
reagent bottles.
4.3.5 Turn the instrument on. The Self-Test menu will be displayed. The cuvette
is then automatically drained.
4.3.6 Prime the instrument twice before staining.
CAUTION:
When changing reagent kits, it is important to regularly check the waste bottle.
It must be routinely emptied to prevent overflow. If an overflow occurs, it can
damage the instrument and/or its surroundings.
