Speed Detection Feedback

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

NOTICE

1. Read both this manual and VAT2000 Instruction Manual (ST-

3251) before using the U2KV23DN1, and store in a safe place for

reference.

2. Observe the warnings, cautions and other matters described in

this manual.

3. Make sure that this manual is delivered to the final user.

4. The content of this manual can be changed without notice

1. Specifications

This manual is for Speed detecting option PCB U2KV23DN1.( Card NPQF-DN09). The option allows

the use of a standard complimentary encoder for speed detection feedback.

Encoder specifications:

Item Specifications

Supply voltage 12VDC±1.2V

Output method Complimentary

Output pulse voltage VH(High revel pulse voltage):above 8.0V , VL(Low revel pulse

voltage):below 1.0V at the terminal on V23-DN1.

Supplied current 150mA (Including signal currents) (Refer Note2 on page 2)

Rising/falling time Within 1µs

Output signal 90º±30º phase difference signal(A phase pulse, B phase pulse)

(Refer Note3 on page 2)

Output pulse

frequency The output pulse frequency is required within 60±10kHz when the

motor rotates at the max. speed.

2. Installation

a) Confirm that the Jumper W1 on U2KV23DN1 is set to 1(2PP) side.

b) Remove the front cover of VAT2000S

CAUTION

There is a risk of electric shocks.

The VAT2000S has a built-in electrolytic capacitor, so a charge will remain even when the inverter power is turned OFF. Always

observe the following times before carrying out wiring work.

• Wait at least 20 minutes after turning the power OFF before starting work. Make sure that thedisplays on the operation panel

have gone out before removing the cover.

• After removing the cover, confirm that the "CHARGE" LED in the VAT2000S does not light. Also check that the voltage

between terminals L+1 or L+2 and L– is 15V or less before starting the inspections. (Check with the "CHARGE" LED if the

unit is not provided with the L– terminal.)

c) Install U2KV23DN1 to the position Option I on the Control PCB cover and make sure not to bend the

pins of reverse of U2KV23DN1.

3. Wiring

An example of the encoder connection is given below.

Note 1: The option U2KV23DN1 is card number NPQF-DN09.

Note 2: If the current to encoder exceeds 150mA, use an external power supply. In this case, connect

the external power source only to the encoder. DO NOT connect the power source to TB1-

1,2[12KP] or -3[0KP] on U2KV23DN1.
