2.1 Changes to the Product

Definitions
■Instructed ersonnel: Personne instructed in the tasks assigned to them.

■Qualified ersonnel: Personne who, based on their specia ist training, know edge
and experience and know edge of the re evant regu ations, are ab e to assess the
work assigned to them and identify possib e hazards.

2.3 Intended Use
The fos4Strain patch is a fiber-optica strain sensor based on a fiber Bragg grating.
The sensor is designed for strain monitoring of various structures, for examp e GRP,
meta and concrete.
Any use other than described in these operating instructions is considered improper
use.
The product is on y suitab e for use in an industria environment.
2.4 Residual Risks
2.4.1 Explosion Protection
The product is not suitab e for use in potentia y exp osive environments.
2.4.2 Working Environment Blade Manufacturing Facility
The use of the product in b ade manufacturing faci ities requires specia risk prevention
measures.
Risk revention measures in blade manufacturing facilities:
uObtain and observe safety and work regu ations:
– Qua ification and training of personne
– Persona protective equipment
– Required permits
uEnsure that the use of the product is permitted on the wind turbine.
2.4.3 Working Environment Wind Turbine
The use of the product in wind turbines requires specia risk prevention measures.

Measures for risk revention on wind turbines:
uObtain and observe safety and work regu ations:
– Qua ification and training of personne
– Persona protective equipment
– Required permits
uEnsure that the use of the product is permitted on the wind turbine.
2.4.4 Adhesives
Adhesives can cause severe irritation and allergic skin reactions.
uAvoid skin contact.
uObserve the safety data sheet of the adhesive.
uUse persona protective equipment according to the safety data sheet of the
adhesive. See Personal Protective Equipment, page 9.
Fumes from adhesives can cause damage to health and allergic reactions.
uDo not inha e fumes.
uObserve the safety data sheet of the adhesive.
uUse adhesives on y in sufficient y venti ated rooms.
Adhesives can cause severe environmental damage.
uObserve the safety data sheet of the adhesive.
uDispose of adhesives and adhesive packaging in accordance with app icab e
environmenta regu ations.
2.5 Personal Protective Equipment
Protective Gloves
For all tasks where surfaces are heated:
uWear protective g oves with the fo owing characteristics:
– Genera requirements according to DIN EN 420
– Protection against contact heat: Performance eve 2 according
to DIN EN 407

uWear protective g oves according to EN ISO 374-1 (nitri e, min.
0.4 mm).
For all tasks with ergo. 1665:
uWear protective g oves according to EN ISO 374-1 (buty , min.
0.5 mm).
Safety Goggles
For all tasks with adhesives:
uWear safety gogg es with side protection according to DIN EN 166.
When grinding GRP:
uWear safety gogg es with side protection according to DIN EN 166.
Protective Clothing
For all tasks:
uWear protective c othing ( ong-s eeved work c othing).
Respiratory Protection
When grinding GRP:
uWear respiratory protection with protection eve A2 P2 according to
DIN EN 140.
For all tasks with ergo. 1665:
uIn case of insufficient venti ation: Wear respiratory protection with
protection eve A P2 according to DIN EN 140.
