1. Determine the location for the mantel allowing for clear-
ancetowallsandfurnitureaccordingtothereplace’s
owner’s manual. Place the mantel base against the wall
and mark wall molding on each end of the mantel base.
Move the mantel base, cut and remove the molding so
that the mantel can rest against the wall.
2. Install gas line and check for leaks. Follow the require-
mentsofyourgasreplaceowner’smanual.Remember
to leave access to the gas shutoff valve where it is ac-
cessible to the user.
3. Align the header and sides so that the trim molding is
ush,seeFigure2.Attachtheheadertotherightandleft
sides using two (2) header blocks and six (6) #10 1 1/4"
wood screws.

ASSEMBLING MANTEL
IMPORTANT: More than one person is required
to lift assembled mantel. Lift mantel by leg
assemblies. Lifting by header or mantel top
could damage mantel.
Use the table below to verify the opening and depth dimen-
sions for each mantel. In addition to meeting these dimen-
sional requirements, clearances to combustibles must also
bemaintainedaccordingtothereplaceandgaslogowner’s
manuals.

5. Place the sides and header assembly from step 3 on the
mantel base. Center the assembly and align the back of
the sides with the back of the mantel base.
6. Attach the sides to the mantel base using two (2) of the
long blocks and eight (8) 1 1/4"wood screws, see Figures
3 and 3a.
