Solo!Product!Features!
The!Ex-Cell!Solo!unit!is!designed!to!provide!support!to!a!vehicle!battery!where!
there!is!no!access!to!mains!power.!It!is!comprised!of!up!to!three!separate!Power!
Packs!that!constantly!monitor!the!vehicle!battery!and!recharge!it!after!the!
demonstration!of!the!vehicle’s!features.!!

Flexible!power!independent!of!mains!
The!unit!uses!the!Power!Packs!sequentially!to!keep!the!vehicle!
battery!fully!charged.!!The!Power!Packs!are!charged!by!a!
separate!charger,!which!can!be!plugged!into!the!mains!away!
from!the!vehicle.!!

Each!Power!Pack!has!an!equivalent!capacity!to!24Ah!(at!12V)!and!tests!have!
shown!that!this!is!enough!to!support!a!typical!luxury!car!in!a!showroom!for!up!to!!
a!week!without!recharging.!Where!support!is!required!for!a!car!with!fewer!
electrical!features!the!unit!can!function!with!1!or!2!Power!Packs.!!

Hot!swappable!Power!Packs!
If!any!of!the!Power!Packs!is!depleted!it!can!be!removed!and!the!
unit!will!continue!to!operate!with!the!remaining!2!(or!1)!Power!
Packs!in!place,!while!the!depleted!one!is!recharged.!

Multiple!power!outputs!!
As!well!as!providing!power!to!keep!the!vehicle!battery!charged!
the!Solo!also!has!2!USB!Charging!Ports!that!can!be!used!to!
power!a!tablet,!LED!lighting,!etc.!allowing!for!integration!to!a!
lectern.!!
This!facilitates!the!growing!industry!trend!for!having!interactive!
information!at!the!side!of!the!vehicles!in!the!showroom.!!!

Discrete!and!lightweight!!
The!unit!has!been!conceived!and!built!with!the!showroom!in!
mind!in!terms!of!size!and!weight.!It!is!light!enough!to!be!
carried!with!three!Power!Packs!installed.!!
The!Solo!is!designed!to!operate!in!conjunction!with!a!lectern!
that!can!hide!the!unit.!If!it!is!not!being!used!in!a!lectern,!it!can!
be!positioned!underneath!the!vehicles!thereby!not!impacting!showroom!
aesthetics.!!

Package!Contents!
The!Solo!package!should!contain!the!following!items.!Please!check!the!contents!
to!ensure!all!items!are!present!before!installing:!
1. Main!Solo!case!with!openings!for!the!Power!Packs!
2. Power!Packs!(1,!2!or!3)!
3. Power!Pack!blanks!(if!only!1!or!2!Power!Packs)!
4. Vehicle!connection!leads!
5. Power!Pack!charger!(with!EU!and!UK!connection!leads)!
6. Elongated!cable!grabber!
7. Pads!to!protect!the!Solo!and!Showroom!floor!

Initial!Set!Up!and!Connecting!the!Solo!
Before!connection!
Insert!the!first!battery!pack!into!any!of!the!three!Power!Pack!slots.!The!Solo!will!
start-up!and!the!initial!screen!(Figure!1)!will!be!displayed.!A!further!two!packs!can!
be!inserted!if!required.!!
Before!first!use,!check!that!the!Power!Packs!are!fully!charged!(the!battery!packs!
will!typically!arrive!partially!discharged!as!this!is!the!optimum!charge!for!best!
shelf!life).!Each!pack!can!be!tested,!by!inserting!it!into!the!unit.!The!initial!screen!
will!give!the!name!of!the!pack!and!indicate!the!current!level!of!charge.!If!a!Power!
Pack!is!not!fully!charged!it!should!be!charged!using!the!supplied!charger.!!!
It!is!strongly!recommended!that!the!vehicle!battery!is!fully!charged!when!the!Solo!
is!initially!connected.!The!unit!can!be!used!to!determine!the!battery!status!(see!
Vehicle!charging!status!on!page!10).!
If!you!are!placing!the!Solo!on!the!floor!under!the!car,!you!may!want!to!attach!the!
pads!to!protect!the!Solo!and!the!floor!when!moving!the!Solo.!!
Connecting!the!Solo!
1. Connect!the!cable!directly!to!the!vehicle!battery!with!the!crocodile!clips!
ensuring!that!the!red!crocodile!clip!is!connected!to!the!positive!(+)!terminal!
and!the!black!clip!to!the!(-)!terminal.!
2. If!required!use!the!elongated!cable!grabber!to!pull!the!cables!through!the!
engine!bay.!
3. Plug!the!two!pole!connector!into!the!socket!on!the!underside!of!the!Solo.!

4. Ensure!that!the!two!ends!of!the!leads!are!connected!using!the!white!
connector.!
5. Once!the!leads!are!correctly!connected!the!user!screen!will!show!the!vehicle!
connected!(see!Figures!1/2).!When!the!vehicle!is!first!connected,!the!Solo!is!
likely!to!start!charging!the!vehicle!battery!unless!it!is!fully!charged.!
Using!the!Solo!
The!user!screen!on!top!of!the!Solo!is!the!main!interface!that!informs!showroom!
staff!of!the!status!of!the!unit.!The!buttons!can!be!used!to!retrieve!further!
information!and!to!control!the!unit!including:!
Status!information!
The!information!screen!will!show:!
•The!status!of!the!Power!Packs!
•Whether!the!unit!is!connected!correctly!
•Whether!the!vehicle!battery!is!being!charged!
•The!status!of!the!vehicle!battery!
•The!status!of!the!2!USB!charging!ports!

Controlling!the!unit!
The!buttons!can!be!used!to:!!
•Put!the!unit!in!standby!
•Turn!the!USB!charging!ports!on!and!off!
