OPERATIONINSTRUCTION

Thiswater heater doesnothaveapilot. It isequipped

withanignitiondevicethatautomaticallylightsthe

burner.Donottrytolighttheburner byhand.

BEFOREOPERATION smell allaround thewater heater

area forevidenceof leakinggas.Besuretosmellnext

tothefloorbecause gasisheavierthanairandwill

settleonthefloor.

Use onlyyourhandtoturnthe gasvalve knob. Never

usetools.If theknob willnotturnbyhand,don't tryto

repairit.Callaqualifiedservicetechnician.Forceor

attemptedrepair couldresultinafireor explosion.

Donotusethiswaterheaterifanyparthasbeen under

water.Immediatelycallaqualifiedservicetechnicianto

inspectthewaterheater and toreplaceanydamaged

parts.

unittotheON position.

Turnonallelectricalpower tothe waterheater.

Ifthewater heater will not operate, followtheinstruction

"ToTurnOff GasWaterHeater"and callyourservice

technicianorgassupplier.

TO TURNOFFGASTO WATERHEATER

Turnoff all electricpower tothe water heaterifservice

istobeperformed.

Turnthemanualgasvalvelocated on theoutsideof

the unit clockwisetothe offposition.

WARNING: Donotinstallwaterheaterwhereflammable

productswillbestored.

Readandfollowthewaterheaterwarningsand instruc-

tions.Iftheoperator'smanualismissing,contactthe

retailerormanufacturer.

Thehotwateroutlettemperatureofthewaterheateris

factoryset122 F(50 C).

WARNING: Usethiswaterheateratyourownrisk.The

setoutletwatertemperaturecan causesevereburns

instantlyordeathfromscalds.Testthewaterbefore

bathingorshowering.Donotleavechildrenortheinfirm

withoutsupervision.

it,call aqualifiedservicetechnician.Forceor attempted

repaircouldresultinafireorexplosion duetothegas

leakage.

Donotusethiswater heaterifanypart hasbeen under

water.Immediatelycall aqualifiedservicetechnicianto

inspectthe waterheaterandtoreplace anypartsthat

havebeenunder water.

Donotinstall theunitstandingdirectlyon combus-

tiblesurface.

STARTINGTHESYSTEM

Foryoursafety,readbeforeoperating

NORMALOPERATION

Toturnon yourwaterheater

STARTINGUP

Oncethe unithasbeenproperlyinstalled, checkthe gasand

waterconnections forleaks.

Checkforproperventilation and combustibleairsupplyto

thewaterheater. Purgethegasandwaterlines toremove

debris;thenfollowthesesteps toturnonyourunit.

Toturnoff yourwaterheater

1.Close thehotwater tapand thewater heater'sburner

will turnoff automatically.

WHATTODOIFYOUSMELL GAS

-Donot trytolightanyappliance.

-Do not touchanyelectricalswitch.

-Do not useanyphonein yourbuilding.

-Immediatelycallyourgassupplierfromaneighbor's

phone.Followthegassupplier'sinstructions.

-If youcannotreachyourgassupplier,call thefire

department.

Openahot water tap.

Burner willignite;theindicatorwilllightonfrontcontroller.

Mixcoldwatertogetthedesiredwatertemperatureattap.

Maximumtemperatureofhotoutlet canbe set bycontroller

on thefrontof theunit.

Closethemanualgasshut-off valve located onthe

gasline.

Fullyopen themanualwatershut-off valveonthewa-

tersupplyline.

Toensurecompletefillingofthe heat exchangertank,

allowair toexit byopening thenearesthot water faucet.

Allowwatertorununtil aconstantflowisobtained.

Thiswill letairoutof thewaterheaterand piping.

Openahotwatertap,tocheckthat waterwill flowto

thattap. Then close the hotwater tap.

Fullyopen themanualshut-off gasvalve.

Plug inthe120VAC/60Hzpowersupplytothewater

heaterandturnon theunit.

Open tapandenjoyendlesshot water!

Neverusethishotwaterheaterunless it is

completelyfilledwithwater.

Thetankmustbefilled withwater. Watermustflow

fromthehotwater faucet beforeturning"ON"gasto

the waterheater.

!! CAUTION

Donotdrink waterthathas been inside the unit

forextended period oftime.Donotdrink thefirst

useofhotwaterfromthe unitinthemorning.

HowToUse TheFrontControlInterface

Toswitchthewater heaterON: fromOFFcondition

Pressthe PowerButton.

-Thetemperatureselectedwillbeindicatedonthe

Digital Monitor.

-TheONIndicatorwilllightup.

Whenrunningthewaterbyopeningthewatertap,

thewaterheaterwillstarttheburnerautomatically

andtheDigital Monitorwill show theactualwater

temperature.When watertapsareclosed,the unit

will stop the burnerand theDigitalMonitorwill show

thesettemperature.

Toswitchthewaterheater OFF:

Pressthe PowerButton.

-The temperatureselected on theDigitalMonitorwill

go out.

-TheONIndicatorwillturnoff.

Toadjustwatertemperature:

Press the "HOT"or"COLD"TemperatureSetting

ButtonwithunitON.(Temperaturesettingisonly

adjustablewhen the waterheaterisnotinuse.)

The maximumwatertemperaturesetting can be

limitedbyDIPswitches.Thismanualsettingoverrides

frontpanel temperaturesetting.DIPswitchsettings

can befound on P.28~29.

Physical Damage:Ifthewaterheaterhasbeensubjected

tofire,flood,orphysicaldamage,turnoff themanualgas

shutoff valve and do notoperatethewaterheater again

until ithasbeencheckedbyqualified personnel.

TemperatureSetting:Hotter waterincreasesthe riskof

scalding injury.

Venting SystemInspection: Avisual inspectionshould

bemadeon theventing systematleastonceayear.

-. Besurethe ventingisproperlyconnected toprevent

escapeof dangerousfluegases whichcouldcause

deadlyasphyxiation.

-.Obstructionscouldcauseimproperventing.The

combustionandventilationairflowmustnotbe ob-

structed.

-. Damageor deteriorationwhichcouldcauseimproper

ventingor leakage of combustionbyproducts.

CleanUp:Theflueoutletandtheairintakeholes onthe

bottomsidesofthewaterheatershouldbe checked

frequently.Cleanasneededtopreventthe entryofwater,

insects,rodentsorotherforeignmaterialssuchasfallen

leavesanddustthat couldcause blockages.Donotob-

struct the flowofcombustion airand exhaustairflow.

WaterStrainer:Thewaterstrainershouldbechecked

atleastonceayear. Itprotectsvalve fromdirt, and

pipescale.Self-cleanbyopening valve orplug con-

nectedtoablow-off outlet.

SedimentBuild-up:Unlike atypicalstorage tank,this

heaterhasaselfcleaningsysteminitiatedbytheflow

ofwater.Buildupofsedimentinfaucetaerators,

showerheadsand screens couldimpairwaterflow

andcause thewaterheatertodeliverless thanitsfull

output,ortoshutdowncompletely.Check anyofthese

screensorshowerheadsonyourfaucetsperiodically

andcleanas necessary.

SYSTEMSAND PARTSCHECK

The unit shouldbecheckedonceayearor asnecessarybya

certified and trainedtechnician.Ifrepairsareneeded,the

repairsshouldbedonebyacertifiedandtrainedtechnician.

The followingsystemsandpartsshouldbe checkedat least

once ayear.

1.Venting system

2. Burner

3. Manualoperationof the pressurereliefvalvetoensure

correct operation.

4.Periodiccleaningof thewater filter.

5.Removethethermistorfromheatexchangerandcheck

formineralcoating.Amineralcoating on thethermist

-orrequiresflushing.

Turnoffthe electricalpowersupply,themanual

gascontrolvalve,and the manualwatercontrol

valvebeforeservicing.

Avoidcontactwithhotwaterreleasedfromthe

reliefvalve

NO LUBRICATION: Nolubrication isrequiredforthe

waterheater.

Service&CleaningOfTheBurner:Onlyspeciallytrained

and authorizedpersonnelarepermittedtoservicethe

burner.
