About these instructions
The operation described here mainly refers to the use of the remote control handset (R/C).
Buttons with same or similar marking at the main unit have the same function like those of
the R/C.
If the message “NOT ALLOWED AT THE MOMENT” or “NOT ALLOWED BY DISC” occurs on
the screen during operation, that function requested is not supported by the media type
inserted.
Many disc formats are supported
MPEG4 R
DivX R
DVD R
SVCD R
VCD R
CD R
MP3 R
WMA R
Photo CD R
These DivX versions are supported:
DivX 3.11, 4.02, 5.02, 5.03, 5.05 and 6.0.
Important note
ØUsually the unit plays CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 discs as well as “burned” DVDs. But
due to the variety of blank disc types, recording computers, operating systems
and burning software we cannot guarantee that every “burned disc” is playable.
The unit does not play DVD-ROM, CD-ROM etc. And there is no way to play back
discs in SECAM colour system, just PAL and NTSC will be supported.
ØThe types of functions and operations that can be used for a particular disc vary
depending on the features of that disc. In some cases, these functions and operations
may differ from the descriptions given in this Operations Manual. In this event, follow the
instructions given on the screen. This Operations Manual only covers basic disc
operations. Therefore you should also read the information enclosed to the Disc.

Information about the regional coding
This DVD/CD player is designed and manufactured to respond to the region
management information that is recorded on a DVD disc. If the region number
described on the DVD disc does not correspond to the Region number of this
DVD/CD player, this DVD/CD player cannot play this disc. The region number
for this DVD player is “2”.
Please note for a better understanding of this manual that the program of a DVD may be
divided into several “titles” (e.g. main movie, bonus material, interviews etc.). Each of
these titles can be divided into “chapters”. The program of audio CD’s is divided into
“tracks”.
About the WMA format
WMA is the abbreviation of Windows Media Audio and refers to an audio compression
technology developed by Microsoft Corporation. WMA data can be encoded by using
Windows Media Player version 8 or Windows Media Player for Windows XP. Files are
recognized by their file extension “.wma” or “.WMA”. “Windows Media”, and “Windows” are
trademarks, or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or
other countries.
This model plays discs with MP3/WMA files with a sampling rate of 32 kbps ~ 384 kbps.
WMA files encoded with DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection will not play.
When naming MP3 and WMA files, add corresponding file name extension (.mp3 or .wma).
Files are played according to the file extension. To prevent noise and malfunctions, do not
use these extensions for other kinds of files.
Folder and track names (excluding the file extension) are displayed and played in
alphabetical order.
About the MPEG4 and DivX format
MPEG is the abbreviation of the Moving Picture Experts Group which belongs to the family of
ISO/IEC standards (International Organization for Standardization and International
Electrotechnical Commission). MPEG-4 is a compression technology for Interactive
Multimedia System. DivX is a brand-name video codec (compression-decompression)
technology codec based on the MPEG-4 standard that compresses video to small enough
sizes that it can be easily sent over the Internet, but retains a high degree of video quality.
DivX is the trade mark of the video codecs, that's based on th MPEG-4 standard.
• This player is compatible with DivX versions 3.11, 4.02, 5.02, 5.03, 5.05 and 6.0.
Note:
There are many non-standardised DVD/MPEG-4/DivX/MP3/WMA/CD-recording procedures
and copy protection procedures now in use, and many different kinds of DVD±R, DVD±RW,
CD-R and CD-RW blank disks. Therefore in some cases read errors or read delays may be
encountered. This is not a defect of the device!

Preparation for turning on
Place of erection
ØFor setting up the unit please choose a location with sufficient air circulation around. That
prevents overheating. Don’t expose the unit to direct sunlight or other heat sources.
ØThe product must be positioned horizontally only. Don’t put any heavy objects on its
housing.
ØTo protect the laser unit avoid dusty surroundings. If necessary, please use a cleansing
disc carefully following its operating instructions.
Condensing humidity
The handling of the discs
ØIn order to keep the disc clean please never touch its shiny surface.
ØNever put any sticker or adhesive label on the disc.
Imbalance would occur and cause malfunction.
ØDon’t expose discs to direct sunlight or other heat sources.
ØPlease store the discs only in their sleeves.
Cleaning of the disc
To clean a disc use a soft cloth without any cleaning agent, liquid or solvent.
Only wipe from the centre hole towards the outer edge, never in circular
movement.

Before using the remote control
1. Please open the battery compartment.
2. Insert two batteries (1,5 V, size AAA). Please
make sure the polarity matches the marks inside
the compartment. Otherwise the r/c will not
work and may be damaged. Replace the cover.
3. Please point the r/c towards the main unit when
operating its buttons.
The r/c works properly in a distance below 6m
and in an angle of up to 60° of the front of the
unit. No obstacles may stand in the way between
r/c and infrared sensor.
ØShould the r/c start to work unreliably replace
both batteries. We recommend using alkaline
batteries.
ØBatteries should not be disposed by
ordinary refuse disposal. Please lead empty
batteries towards appropriate collecting
points. Never throw batteries into fire.
ØIf you won’t use the r/c for some time, please
remove the batteries from the compartment, to
prevent damage by leakage.
