Figures 1 through 4 are labeled pictures of the 4 acrylic layers that assemble the OpenLogger case. Refer to these

labels for proper assembly. Table 1 describes the hardware used for assembly.

Assembly Instructions

Note: The acrylic case is easiest to assemble upside down on a table top to help keep the screws in place while

adding each layer. Do not pick up the case until the hex nuts have been secured to the screws that hold all layers

together. Also note that each layer has a “notch” on one side to allow access to the microSD, microUSB, and power

supply jacks. These notches can be observed in Figures 1 through 4 along the top edge of each layer. Each layer will

be oriented such that these notches will all be observed on the same edge of the fully assembled case.

Step 1

Remove paper shipping mask from both sides of all layers as shown in Figure 5.

Step 2

Place Layer A face down with screws facing upward through the smaller set of four holes near the corners of the

layer. Use the edge of a table to assist with inserting all the screws if necessary, as shown in Figure 6. Figure 7

shows this step completed.

Step 3

Place Layer B on top of Layer A with the same orientation as shown in Figure 8, making sure notches are

appropriately aligned. Note: to help differentiate the middle layers, Layer B is slightly thinner than Layer C and has

a larger open gap. Once Step 3 is completed, set it aside retaining orientation. Do not pick it up off the table. This

part of the assembly will be integrated in Step 5.

Step 4

Have Layer D oriented as shown in Figure 9. Set the OpenLogger face-up on top of Layer D as shown in Figure 10.

Then, place Layer C around the OpenLogger as shown in Figure 11 noting correct orientation mentioned in Figure 3

with notches in top right corner. The outer edge of the OpenLogger should sit flush with the edge of Layer C.

Step 5

Make sure that the assembly from Steps 2 through 3 is in the same orientation as in those steps and the assembly

from Step 4 is in the same orientation from that step. Place each assembly side by side as shown in Figure 12. Pick

up the assembly from Step 4, flip it horizontally as shown in Figure 13 such that it is upside down. Then, place it on

top of the assembly from Steps 2 through 3 such that the vertical facing screws appear through the holes in the

assembly from Step 4 as shown in Figure 14. Make sure all the notches align with their respective parts on the

OpenLogger while being careful not to bend the acrylic.

Step 6

Lift one corner of the case so that you can place a finger under the screw head as shown in Figure 15. Pick up a nut

with your other hand to hand tighten the nut onto the screw as shown in Figure 16. Repeat for the other three

screws continuing to only hand tighten them. Use the edge of the table technique as shown in Figure 6 to gain

access to the screw head if needed.
