This
manual
has
been
prepared
by
the
De
Havilland
Aircraft
of
Canada
Ltd.
to
assist
civil
operators
of
the
DHC-4A
Caribou
in
the
servicing
and
maintenance
of
the
air-
craft
and
its
equipment.
Coverage
is
given
to
both
the
standard
version
of
the
aircraft
and
available
special
order
equipment.
Alist
covering
the
specialorder
equipment
is
included
as
Appendix
II.
The
main
portion
of
the
manual
is
divided
into
nine
parts,
each
of
which
provides
comprehensive
coverage
of
the
systems
and
components
contained
within
the
part.
Each
part
is
provided
with
a
table
of
contents
to
locate
the
various
systems
and
com-
ponents
contained
therein.
A
further
breakdown
of
the
text
gives
trouble
shooting,
removal,
installation,
testing,
etc.,
as
applicable
to
the
systems
and
components.
The
need
to
use
more
than
one
part
forrrl.aintenance
of
a
particular
system
has
been
kept
to
a
minimum,
but,
where
necessary,
appropriate
cross-references
are
made.
It
will
be
noted
that
this
manual
does
not
deal
fully
with
items
of
proprietary
equip-
ment.
It
is
suggested,
therefore,
that
every
use
be
made
of
the
(wide
range
of)
literature
available
from
the
individual
manufacturers;
(to
this
end)
a
list
of
refer-
ence
publications
is
included
in
Appendix
I.
An
inspection
schedule
is
included
in
Appendix
III.
