• Theapplianceisexclusivelyfortheuseoftoastingbread
products.Anyotheruseistobeconsideredinappropriate
andthereforedangerous.Themanufacturercannotbeheld
responsibleforeventualdamagecausedbyinappropriate,
improperorirresponsibleuse and/orforrepairsmadeto
theproductbyunauthorisedpersonnel.
• Theapplianceisdesignedandproducedfordomesticuse
only.Itisnotsuitableforusein:
-stakitchensinshops,ocesandotherworkplaces,
-farmhouses,
-hotels,motelsorotherholidayaccommodation,
-guesthouses.
• After removing the appliance from the packaging, make
surethattheproductiscompleteandinperfectcondition.
Ensurealllabelsandpackaginghavebeenremovedfrom
thetoaster.
• The plastic bag in which the appliance was packaged
shouldbekeptoutofreachofchildrenasitposesasuoca-
tionhazard.
• Remove any dust that may have accumulated on the
applianceduring transitby dustingito withasoftdry
cloth.
• Beforeinsertingtheplugintothesocket,ensurethat:
-Thevoltageofthesocketcorrespondstothevalueindica-
tedontheinformationlabel,attachedtotheappliance.
-Theelectricalsocketisearthed.Themanufacturerdoes
notacceptanyliabilityifthisrequirementisnotobserved.
• Inthecaseofincompatibilitybetweenthesocketandthe
plugoftheappliance,haveitreplacedbyaqualiedtech-
nician.Theuseofadapters,multiplesocketunitsand/or
extensioncablesis notrecommended.Wheneveritmay
benecessarytousesuchequipment,itisadvisabletouse
onlysingleormultipleadaptersorextensioncableswhich
complywiththecurrentsafetystandards,andmakesure
nottoexceedthewattagelimitoftheadapterorextension
cable.
• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythe
manufacturer,itsserviceagentorsimilarlyqualiedper-
sonsinordertoavoidahazard.
• Thisappliancecanbeusedbychildrenaged8upwardsand
bypersonswithreducedphysical,sensoryormentalcapa-
bilitiesorwholackofexperienceandknowledgeiftheyare
supervisedorhavebeengiveninstructionsconcerninguse
oftheapplianceinasafewayandunderstandthehazards
involved.Childrenmustnotplaywiththeappliance.Cle-
aningandusermaintenancemust not be carried out by
childrenunlesstheyareolderthan8andsupervised.Keep
theapplianceanditscordoutofthereachofchildrenunder
8yearsofage.
• Toavoidelectricshocks,neverletthetoaster,cordorplug
getwet,andNEVERputyourhandoranythingmetal,e.g.a
knifeorfoil,intothetoaster.
• Donottouchtheappliancewithwetordamphands.
• The areas surrounding the bread slots become very hot
during use: operating the toaster should be carried out
touchingonlytheplasticcontrols.
• Breadisafoodstuwhichmaycatchre.
Donotusethisapplianceunderornexttocurtainsorother
combustiblematerial.
• Donotcovertheappliancewhileitisinuse,itcouldoverhe-
atandcatchre.
• Donotusetheappliancewithbareorwetfeet.
• Werecommendthatyoudonotuseyourtoasterdirectly
underwallcupboards.
• Burntfood can catchre,soneverleaveyourtoasteron
unattended,andsetthebrowningcontrollowerforthinor
drybreadwhichcanburnmoreeasily.
• Neverwarmfoodwithatoppingorlling(e.g.pizza):ifit
dripsintothetoasteritcouldcatchre.
• Cleanthecrumbtrayregularly:crumbscansmokeorburn.
• Alwaysunplugthetoasterwhennotinuse,beforecleaning
orattemptingtoclearjammedbread.
• Donotunplugtheappliancefromtheoutletbypullingon
thecord.
• Donotleavetheapplianceexposedtotheelements,(rain,
directsunlight,frost,etc.).
• Donotimmersetheappliance,theplug,ortheelectrical
cableinwater.
• Thisapplianceisnotintendedtobeoperatedbymeansof
anexternaltimerorseparateremote-controlsystem.
• Fornecessaryrepairsorreplacement ofthe electrical ca-
ble,consultthetechnicalservicecentreauthorisedbythe
manufacturer.Pleaserefertoenclosedguaranteeleaetfor
details.
• As with any electrical appliance, whilst the instructions
aimtocoverasmanyeventualitiesaspossible,cautionand
common sense should be applied when opearating your
appliance,particularlyinthevicinityofyoungchildren.

Use
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
• Clipexcesscordintothecordstorageclipsunderneaththe
toaster.
• Aswithallnewheatingelements,yourtoastermayemit
aslightburningor‘new’smellwhenitisrstswitchedon.
Thisisnormalandnotacauseforconcern.
• Toeliminatethe‘new’smellattherstuse,operatetheto-
asteronamediumsettingwithoutanybreadinside.Ensure
theroomiswellventilatedduringthisoperation.
TO USE YOUR TOASTER
• MakesurethantheONlevers(D)areattherestposition.
Movethebrowningcontroldial(B)tothedesiredsetting.
• Connecttheappliancetotheelectricaloutlet.
• Inserttheslicesofbreadintothebreadtoastingslots(A)
andlowerthelever(D)untilitisallthewaydown.
Note: If the appliance is not connected to the elec-
trical outlet, the lever (D) will not stay down.
• Whenthetoastingisnished,theleverreturnstotherest
position,raisingthetoastedbreadslicesatthesametime.
• Ifthebreadisnotsucientlytoasted,selectadarkerde-
greeoftoastingbyturningthebrowningcontroldial(B).
•
ThetoastingcanbeinterruptedatanytimebypressingtheStop/
Cancelbutton(F).Neverliftthelever(D)tocanceltoasting.
Caution: the bread toasting slots become very hot
during operation. Do not touch.
Defrost function
Frozenslicesof breadmaybe toastedbypressingthe Defrost
button(E)immediatelyafterloweringthelever(D);thetoasting
cyclewillbelengthenedinordertoachievethedesiredbrow-
ning.Thedefrostindicatorlightwillremainlitwhilethedefrost
functionisinuse.
Reheat function
Towarmtoastthathaspoppedupbutgonecold,lowerthelever
(D)againandthen pressthe‘Reheat’button(G).Pleasenote
thatthisisxedreheattimewhichcannotbeadjustedbythe
browningcontrol.Thereheatfunctioncanbecancelledatany
timebypressingtheStop/Cancelbutton(F).Thereheatindi-
catorlightwillremainlitwhilethereheatfunctionisinuse.
SUGGESTIONS FOR USE
• Selectalowersettingforlightbrowning,fortoastingone
sliceonlyorfordrybread.
• Whentoastingasinglesliceofbread,youmaynoticeava-
riationintoastcolourfromonesidetotheother–thisis
normal.
• Dry/stalebreadtoastsmorequicklythanfreshbread,and
thinlyslicedbreadtoastsmorequicklythanthicklysliced
bread.Thereforethebrowningcontrolshouldbesetata
lowersettingthanusual.
• Forbestresultsensurethatthebreadslicesareofaneven
thickness,freshnessandsize.
• Inordertoachieveuniformbrowningwerecommendthat
youwaitaminimumof30secondsbetweeneachtoasting
sothattheheatingcontrolcanreset.Alternativelyselecta
lowersettingwhenadditionaltoastingiscarriedout.
PRECAUTIONS
• Neverusetheappliancewhenitisempty(whenthereisno
breadinside)exceptonrstuse.
• Donotuseverythinorbrokenslicesofbread.
• Donotinsertotherfoodsthatmaydripduringthecooking
process.Inadditiontomakingthecleaningproceduremore
dicult,thesemaycauseres.
• Cleanthecrumbtrayregularly:crumbscansmokeorburn.
• Donotinsert(byforce)foodsthataretoobigfortheslots.
• Donotinsertforksorotherutensilsintothetoasterinorder
toremovebread.Aswellasdamagingthetoaster,thereisa
highriskofelectricshock.
• Shouldsometoastremainblockedinthetoaster,remove
theplugfromthemains,waitforthetoastertocooldown
untilitissafetotouch,thenturnthetoasteroverandshake
itgently.
CARE AND CLEANING
• Beforecleaning,unplugyourtoasterandletitcooldown.
• Theexternalpartoftheappliancemustbecleanedwitha
softcloth.Donotuseabrasivedetergentsthatcanruinthe
surface.
• DONOTIMMERSEINWATER.
• Aftereachuse,removetheplugfromtheelectricaloutlet
andemptythecrumbcollectiontraythatisundertheap-
pliance.
DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF THE TOASTER WITH SHARP OR
METAL UTENSILS, ESPECIALLY INSIDE THE BREAD TOASTING
SLOTS. RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
