1 GENERAL WARNINGS
1.1 SAFETY WARNINGS
This installation manual is only intended for professional personnel. All the instructions must be read before proceeding with installation.
All that not expressly stated in these instructions is not allowed; uses other than those intended may be a source of damage to the
product and endanger persons or property. The manufacturer declines all liability for failure to observe best technical practices in
barrier system construction and for any possible deformations that may occur when using the product. Keep this manual for future
reference. The design and manufacture of BORDER manually operated devices and this manual fully comply with current standards.
In light of potential hazards that may arise during installation and use of BORDER, installation procedures must also be carried out in
full compliance with the applicable laws, standards and regulations; specically:
1.2 WARNINGS FOR INSTALLATION
• Before starting the installation procedures ensure any additional devices and materials are available that may be required to complete
automation of the manually operated BORDER based on the application required.
• The automation system must not be used until the transit area has been made safe.
• The packaging material must be disposed of in full compliance with the local regulations.
1.3 WARNINGS FOR USE
•
Do not make any changes to any parts unless provided for in this manual. Operations of this type will only cause malfunctions. The
manufacturer denies all liability for damage resulting from modied products.
• Do not submerge parts of the automation in water or any other liquid substance.
•
Do not store any manually operated BORDER components in the vicinity of heat sources nor expose it to ames; this may damage it
and cause malfunction, re or hazardous situations.
• In case of a fault that cannot be resolved using the information in this manual, contact the help service.

4 INSTALLATION
4.1 PRELIMINARY CHECKS
For correct operation of the automation system, make sure:
• All the accessories are properly rated.
• All the operating limits of the product can be complied with.
• The minimum and maximum clearances shown in (FIG.1).

• All material used is in perfect condition and t for purpose.
• The selected installation site is compatible with the overall dimensions of the product.
• There are no hindrances that could obstruct the opening and closing movements of the barrier boom.
• The footing of the barrier system is able to provide stable anchorage of the unit.
• The space around the barrier system is sufcient to allow easy and safe execution of manual barrier operations.
• All devices to be installed are in a protected location in order to minimise the risk of accidental impact.
• If necessary, create a pedestrian entrance well clear of the operating range of the barrier boom.

4.2 LIMITS OF USE
• Use a xed end rest for booms more than 3 m long.
Before installing the barrier, check that its data are within the limits of use in chapter 3: “Product technical specications”.
4.3 INSTALLATION WORKS
• Assemble the counter plate with the (optional) anchor bolts, allowing them to protrude by approx. 30 mm (FIG. 2-2A).

• Embed counter plate and anchor bolts in concrete (FIG.3A).
• In the case of an existing concrete footing drill 4 holes for the screw anchors as shown in FIG. 3B.

4.4 INSTALLATION OF THE MANUALLY OPERATED BORDER BARRIER SYSTEM
4.4.1 INSTALLATION
• Remove the front cover using the supplied key (FIG. 4).
• Position the barrier on the counter plate. Secure the pedestal with the nuts and washers supplied (FIG. 5).

Fitting the springs:
The manually operated BORDER 400-600 barrier system features a single- or double-spring mechanism. The spring assembly must
be mounted in the corresponding bore according to the length of the boom as shown in the following table:
• Place the boom holder in an upright position.
• Secure the spring between the frame and the spring tensioning arm (TAB.01).

Installation of locking system and boom:
• Mount the supplied boom holder and locking system as shown in gures 7A-7B-7C-7D.

Boom assembly:
• Insert the impact protection strip in the specic guides.
NOTE: the protection strip will be 100 mm too long; push it until it is pressed
against the boom (FIG. 8).
• Secure the plug to one end of the boom as shown in gure 9.

• Insert the boom into the corresponding boom holder and secure it with the 4 screws as shown in gure 10.

• To prevent hazardous situations from occurring, immediately adjust the spring tension as described in the following section.
Spring pull adjustment:
• With the system released, manually guide the boom to approximately half of its stroke (45°) (FIG. 11A) and leave it. If the boom
tends to fall, use the spring adjuster, turning it clockwise; if instead, the boom tends to rise, use the spring adjuster and turn it anti-
clockwise, see FIG. 11B. The correct balance is when the rod is at 45° and is stationary.
• Once the correct balance of the boom has been found, lock the system using the locknut in the spring mechanism (FIG 11B).

Installation of boom handle:
• Install the handle with the 8 screws provided as shown in gure 12.

4.4.2 ADJUSTMENT OF MECHANICAL STOPS
The manually operated BORDER barrier system is equipped with mechanical stops:
• Adjust the closure stop by turning the screw so that it rests on the spring attachment plate in the horizontal boom position and
secure the screw using its locknut as shown in Figure 13A.
• Adjust the opening stop by turning the screw so that it rests on the spring attachment plate in the vertical boom position and
secure the screw using its locknut as shown in Figure 13B.
