Assembly
1. Attach one end of theair hose to thepressure source (compressor or aerosol can)
and theother to theairbrush.
2. Theair pressure should lie between 1–3.5 bar. Normal working pressure is 2 bar.
We recommend using apressure regulator with water separator in order to avoid
moisture problems. For large jobs, anair compressor with atank is recommended.
Theincluded adapter enables you to connect thehose to a1/4″air outlet coupling.
3. Pour thepaint into thepaint reservoir. Thepaint should be relatively thin, about half
thethickness of paint used for brushing (see Mixing colours further on in thetext).
Attach thepaint reservoir to corresponding hole on theairbrush. Hold theairbrush
perpendicular to thework surface.
4. Press down thetrigger lever and pull back until it sprays. Use alower air pressure
when spraying close to asurface. Thecloser you spray thenarrower thestream.
Theairbrush is pre-adjusted from thefactory to provide anarrow stream.
How to spray
Thebest result is obtained when sweeping theairbrush along at aneven speed.
Commence thesweep before pressing thetrigger lever and continue movement
even after releasing thetrigger lever.

Exercise 1
• Spray dots on paper or cardboard. Hold theairbrush tip about 12 mm from
thesurface (Figure 1). Use thinned ink or water soluble paint. When you are
satisfied with theresult make larger circles (more paint and greater distance).
• Holding theairbrush too close and pulling thetrigger lever all theway back will
result in small blotches of paint (Fig. 3 and 4). Work carefully and take your time.
Practice until you achieve proper circles with thedesired size.
This simple exercise will improve your aim and help you achieve theright paint
thickness. This is especially important when retouching or filling.
Fig. 1 Fig. 2 Fig. 3 Fig. 4
Exercise 2 – Freehand effects
The exercise shown in Figure 5 will teach you to spray straight lines without blotches
and spots.
Figure 6 shows straight, widening lines. To achieve this, increase thepaint as you pull
theairbrush back away from thework surface.
Practice daily to improve your feel and
precision.
Figure 7. Draw small squares with apencil. Spray dots as small as possible on thelines.
Join thedots with fine, same-thickness lines.
Fig. 5 Fig. 6 Fig. 7
Common problems:
Drops and blotches due to:
1. Spray being stopped too early or finger lever released too late.
2. Airbrush being swept along too slowly.
3. Airbrush being held too close to work surface.

Masking
Use asquare template for thefollowing exercises.
Wrap thetemplate with paper and tape it down.
Do not spray beyond themasking tape.
Exercise 3 – How to achieve an even hue
To achieve aneven hue, begin with anarrow spray at theupper left and sweep to
theright. Keep adistance of 10 cm and spray slightly beyond themasking tape to
achieve asharp border. Now spray from right to left and let thespray overlap
previous sweep. Spray theentire surface in this manner.
Fig. 9 Fig. 10 Fig. 11
Exercise 4 – How to shade
This exercise is similar to theprevious one. Begin from below and enter thewhite
surface. Do not spray more than between 2/3 to 3/4 of thesurface. Hold theairbrush
tip further away for each new sweep. Keep in mind that thepaint becomes thicker for
each coat. Figure 13 shows acombination of masking and shading. Training theeye is
important in order to be able to achieve consistent shading for all thesquares.
Theeffect in Figure 14 is achieved by using around mask and by spraying towards
and beyond themasked boundaries thus accumulating most of thepaint on themask.

Exercise 5 – Three-dimensional effects
By practising with these basic shapes you can learn how and in what order to shade.
These shapes and their combinations cover everything you will ever come across.
In this exercise, imagine that thelight is always approaching from theupper left at
a45° angle. Make thefigures about twice as large as those in theimage.
Cubes
Draw acube on thepaper twice thesize as theone below. Cut amask for each
edge and tape it down. Now remove themask at theedge furthest from thelight
source. Shade (as in Exercise4) from theupper left down toward thelower right.
Spray another coat as needed. Now re-mask thefinished side and do thesame for
theother sides until you have achieved thedesired result.
Cylinder
First, study how thelight varies on thecylinder surface and how theflat surface
on top contrasts with thecurved surface. Form themask to match thecurved
line. Cover thetop first and shade thecylinder. Now cover thecylinder and shade
thetop. To obtain thesame hue on both surfaces requires much practise.
Cones
Begin by cutting amask in theform of acone. Start shading from above and
sweep towards thebase of thecone. Do thesame for theother side of thecone
until you have achieved thethree-dimensional effect shown in thefigure.
Spheres
Cut a disc out of the masking material and use thematerial with ahole in it as
ashading mask and thedisc as amask. Now shade thework surface until thesphere
appears three-dimensionally.
Note: Do not apply too much paint. Spray preferably athin layer first and let dry.
Then spray another layer, and so on. This takes time but is worth it.

Technique, 3-dimensional
Cover up those areas of thework surface that you
want to preserve. Thework surface must be free from
grease, dust and dirt. Small objects are best sprayed
hanging or set on asurface that allows you to spray
from all sides. Bottles, wire and other such aids may be used.
Hold theairbrush tip about 15 cm from thework surface. Apply short sprays
and sweep theairbrush at aneven speed at aneven distance from thesurface.
Do not apply thepaint too thick. Spray preferably athin layer first and let dry.
Then spray another layer, and so on. This takes time but is worth it.
Mixing colours
To achieve adesired hue you must mix different colours together. Keep in mind
thepaints that you mix must be of thesame type, for example mix enamel only with
enamel, lacquer only with lacquer and so forth. Mix them well and long. Filter thepaint
if lumps arise.
Thinning
Most store bought paints are too thick to airbrush. Thin your enamel paint or lacquer to
a1:1 ratio. Follow themanufacturer’s recommendations when thinning automotive lacquer.
Cleaning and care
This airbrush is aprecision instrument for professionals and enthusiasts. Always clean
theairbrush and paint reservoirs thoroughly. Remove paint or other deposits from
theairbrush directly after use or thenarrow channels will clog and you will not be able
to clear them again. Cleanliness is actually themost important point we can make
and it cannot be stressed enough. Most functional problems arise due to insufficient
cleaning of theairbrush.
After taking out theneedle from theairbrush for cleaning (always use appropriate
solvent), it should be put back very carefully and without excessive force. Spots and
deposits may be removed with asoft eraser while resting theneedle on aflat surface.
Theneedle itself is delicate and should not be bent in any way since this would render
theneedle worthless. Tighten thelocking screw firmly when reinserting theneedle.
Always protect theneedle tip.

Common problems
1. Grainy paint. This happens when thepaint is too thick. Carefully thin thepaint.
Make sure theneedle and adjustment screw are free from dried paint. Also check
theair pressure.
2. Bubbles arise on thepaper. Thepaint is probably too thin. Do not spray too long
over thesame spot. Move theairbrush faster or weaken thestream.
3. Blotches at theend of thesweep. Begin spraying before beginning thesweep and end
thesweep before stopping thespray.
4. Flared ends. Caused by turning thewrist while sweeping. Your entire arm must
sweep horizontally across thepaper.
5. Spidery splashes. You are spraying too much and too close. When you want to
spray fine lines, pull thelever back only slightly.
6. Splashing. This happens when theneedle slides too quickly into thenozzle. Always
operate thenozzle slowly, feeling your way forward. Make sure there is no dried paint
on theneedle or nozzle.
7. Curved line. This happens when making thesweep with your arm too close to thepaper.
Always hold your arm thesame distance from thework surface to avoid this.
8. No stream. Thenozzle may be tightened too much. Loosen 1–2 turns.
9. Bubbles in thepaint reservoir. Thenozzle may be open too much. Tighten it
somewhat. Another cause may be aclogged siphon.
10. Thestream will not shut off. Thenozzle may be clogged. This is evident when
theneedle feels spongy when moving it forward. Clean thenozzle carefully and
flush it with solvent (see Cleaning and care).
11. Theairbrush spits. This is caused by deposits on theneedle or in thepaint
reservoir. Alternatively, thepaint may be too thick.
Remarks from the manufacturer
Nozzle Needle
O-ring
AnO-ring on theback of thenozzle eliminates theneed
to wax thethread there. Normal wear, solvents or other
damage may eventually allow air to leak in thus resulting
in apulsating stream. Replace thepacking.

Ju närmare man sprutar desto mindre strålbredd används.
Från fabriken är strålfördelaren inställd för att ge en smal stråle.
Hur man sprutar
Det bästa resultatet får man om man för sprutan med jämn hastighet. Börja med att
föra sprutan innan strålen kommer och fortsätt något även efter det att strålen slutat.
