General Safety Requirements
Warning! Read all theinstructions. Failure to adhere to thefollowing instructions may
lead to electric shocks, fires and/or serious injury. The term “power tools” in thewarning
text below refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operated tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
1) The work space
a) Keep thework space clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and areas invite
accidents.
b) Do not use electrical hand tools in explosive environments, i.e. nearby flammable
liquids, gas or dust. Electrical hand tools generate sparks that
could easily ignite dust or fumes.
c) Keep away from children and other spectators while using theelectrical hand
tool. Interference can make you loose your concentration and control.
2) Electrical safety
a) The electrical hand tools plug must fit correctly in thewall socket. Never modify
theplug in any way. Never use anadaptor together with earthed electrical hand
tools. Unmodified plugs and suitable wall sockets decreases therisk of electric
shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed objects, such as pipes, radiators, ovens
or refridgerators. There is anincreased risk of electrical shock if your body
is earthed.
c) Do not expose theelectrical hand tool to rain or other wet conditions. If water
gets inside anelectrical hand tool it increases therisk of electrical shock.
d) Do not misuse thelead. Never use thelead to carry, drag or pull theplug out of
thewall socket. Keep thelead away from heat, oil, sharp edges and movable
parts. Damaged or tangled leads increases therisk of electrical shock.
e) When you use anelectrical hand tool outdoors; use anextension cord suitable
for this purpose. Use of anextension cord for outdoor use decreases therisk of
electrical shock.

3
ENGLISH
f) If for some reason you must use apower tool in awet environment, always
connect it to themains via anearth-fault circuit breaker such as anRCD (residual
current device). Using anRCD significantly reduces thechances
of you receiving anelectric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Pay attention to what you do and use common sense when using electrical hand
tools. Never use anelectrical hand tool if you are tired or under theinfluence of
drugs, alcohol or medication. One moment of not paying attention while using
anelectrical hand tool may result in serious injury.
b) Use protective equipment. Always use safety glasses. Using protective
equipment such as aface mask, slip resistant protection shoes, ahelmet and ear
defenders when needed decreases therisk of injury.
c) Avoid accidental starting. Make sure that theswitch is set to OFF before you
connect thedevice to thewall socket. Never carry anelectrical hand tool with
one finger on thetrigger or never connect thehand tool to awall socket when
theswitch is set to ON, since it may result in injury.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on thehand tool. A service tool
forgotten on arotating part of theelectrical hand tool may result in injury.
e) Do not overreach. Make sure you stand steady and well balanced
at all times. This gives better control in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose fitting clothes or jewellery.
Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from movable parts. Loose fitting clothes,
jewellery or long hair could get caught in movable parts.
g) If theequipment for suctioning or collecting dust is available make sure
it is connected and used properly. Using technical aid may decrease dust related
hazards.
4) Use and maintenance of the electrical hand tools
a) Do not overdrive thehand tool. Use ahand tool suitable for thework you are to
perform. The correct electrical hand tool will perform thetask better and safer if
used at thecorrect feed rate.
b) Never use theelectrical hand tool if theswitch does not work properly to turn
on and shut off thetool. All electrical hand tools that can not be operated by
theswitch are dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket before making any adjustments, changes of
accessories or storing theelectrical hand tool away. These precautions reduces
therisk of unexpected start of theelectrical hand tool.
d) Store electrical hand tools that are not being used out of reach from children.
Electrical hand tools can be dangerous if they get in thehands
of inexperienced users.

4
ENGLISH
e) Maintenance of electrical hand tools. Check if something is incorrectly set, if
movable parts are getting jammed, or parts are broken or something else that
might cause dysfunction to theelectrical hand tool. If something is damaged it
must be repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained
electrical hand tools.
f) Keep thetools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
blades are less disposed to getting jammed and easier to control.
g) Use theelectrical hand tool, accessories and such according to theinstructions
and in away suitable for thetype of electrical hand tool used. Using theelectrical
hand tool for work other then suitable work could result
in adangerous situation.
5) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified persons, and only with
original spare parts. This guarantees thesafety on theelectrical hand tool.

Chuck
1. The hammer drill is equipped with
a 13 mm keyless quick chuck.
2. Hold therear collar of thechuck and twist
thefront collar anticlockwise
until thejaws are wide enough apart
to allow thedrill bit to enter.
3. Insert adrill bit or other tool.
4. Hold therear collar of thechuck and twist
thefront collar until thejaws lock onto
the tool or bit.
Warning: Do not try to tighten thechuck by holding therear collar whilst starting
the drill; this could result in personal injury. Moreover, thechuck tightens better if
the two collars are gripped and tightened by hand.
Power trigger
1. Plug thelead into awall socket after
inserting atool into thechuck and
tightening it.
2. Start thehammer drill by gently pulling
thepower trigger (1), check that thetool
rotates in thecorrect direction. Release
thepower trigger to stop thedrill.
3. When thechuck is rotating,
the power trigger can be locked by
pressing thelock button (2) and releasing
thepower trigger. To stop thedrill, pull
thepower trigger and then release it.
Side handle
1. Screw theside handle anticlockwise
to undo it.

Changing direction
1. Stop thedrill.
2. Turn theselector (4) to theright or left
to select thedirection of rotation.
N.B. The drill will not work if theselector is
between settings. The control knob must
be turned to theend position for
the desired rotational direction.
Variable speed control
1. Start thedrill by pulling
the power trigger (1).
2. Turn thespeed control (7) on
the handle anticlockwise to
reduce speed or clockwise to
increase speed.
3. The speed selector limits how far
the power trigger can be pulled in.
N.B. Always start drilling at alow speed if drilling without apilot hole or
centre-punch mark. As arule, use higher speeds with thin drill bits and lower
speeds with thicker bits. Cleaning and polishing usually require ahigh speed.
High and low gear
1. Stop thedrill completely.
2. Turn theupper selector knob (8) to
the desired gear ratio. Select 1for
the lowest gear (0–1200 rpm) or 2for
the highest gear (0–3000 rpm).
N.B. Always use thelowest gear when
the machine is under thegreatest load,
it provides higher torque and better cooling.
Warning: Do not move thegear selector unless thechuck is completely stationary.
Make sure that thecontrol knob is in thecorrect position by turning completely to
the end.
