Safety
General power tool safety warnings
Warning: Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow thewarnings
and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
SAVE ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
Theterm “power tool” in thewarnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or
battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in thepresence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite thedust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating apower tool. Distractions can
cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match theoutlet. Never modify theplug in any way. Do not use
any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching
outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is anincreased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or
grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering apower tool will
increase therisk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse thecord. Never use thecord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
thepower tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase therisk of electric shock.
e) When operating apower tool outdoors, use anextension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of acord suitable for outdoor use reduces therisk of electric shock.
f) If operating apower tool in adamp location is unavoidable, use aresidual current device
(RCD) protected supply. Use of anRCD reduces therisk of electric shock.

3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating apower
tool. Do not use apower tool while you are tired or under theinfluence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. Amoment of inattention while operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate
conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure theswitch is in theoff-position before connecting
to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying thetool. Carrying power
tools with your finger on theswitch or energising power tools that have theswitch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning thepower tool on. Awrench or
akey left attached to arotating part of thepower tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better
control of thepower tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for theconnection of dust extraction and collection facilities,
ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-
related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force thepower tool. Use thecorrect power tool for your application.
Thecorrect power tool will do thejob better and safer at therate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use thepower tool if theswitch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that
cannot be controlled with theswitch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect theplug from thepower source and/or thebattery pack from thepower
tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
Such preventive safety measures reduce therisk of starting thepower tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of thereach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with thepower tool or these instructions to operate thepower tool. Power tools are
dangerous in thehands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect thepower tool’s operation. If damaged,
have thepower tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained
power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions,
taking into account theworking conditions and thework to be performed. Use of
thepower tool for operations different from those intended could result in ahazardous situation.

5) Battery tool use and care
a) Recharge only with thecharger specified by themanufacturer. Acharger that is suitable
for one type of battery pack may create arisk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other
battery packs may create arisk of injury and fire.
c) When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like
paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make
aconnection from one terminal to another. Shorting thebattery terminals together may
cause burns or afire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from thebattery; avoid contact.
If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally
seek medical help. Liquid ejected from thebattery may cause irritation or burns.
6) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified persons, and only with
original spare parts. This guarantees thesafety of thepower tool.

Specific safety instructions for grass trimmers
Warning:
• This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge of this manual. Local regulations
may restrict theage of theoperator.
• Never use thegrass trimmer very close to anyone, especially children or animals.
• Theproduct is only designed for trimming grass. Use of theproduct for apurpose other than
that for which it was intended could result in aninjury or hazardous situation.
• Avoid directing thetrimmer head towards immovable objects when thetrimmer head is
spinning. Avoid operating thegrass trimmer on gravel paths, gravel covered yards or other
places where stones could be ejected.
• Only use thegrass trimmer with parts and accessories recommended by themanufacturer.
• Never attach metal cutting blades to this grass trimmer.
• Keep hands and feet away from thetrimmer head and line at all times and especially when
switching themotor on.
• Thetrimmer guard must always be fitted before thegrass trimmer is used. Theproduct must
not be used if theguard is damaged or if themains lead is defective.
Warning for electric shock:
• Theuse of anextension lead designed for outdoor use decreases therisk of electric shocks.
• Never connect theproduct to theelectricity mains using adamaged extension lead. Never
touch adamaged mains lead until theproduct has been unplugged from thewall socket.
Doing so will result in therisk of anelectric shock.
• Keep thetrimmer head away from theextension lead during use. Adamaged mains lead can
result in anelectric shock.
• Theproduct should only be connected to anearthed wall socket with 230 V, 50/60 Hz
mains protected by a30mA residual current device (RCD).
Important:
• Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Always hold thegrass trimmer firmly using both
the front and rear handles.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Never run when using this product.
• Keep theventilation openings of thetrimmer head free from debris. Remove any grass or leaves.
• Store theproduct in acool, dry place out of children’s reach when not in use.
• Wear sturdy footwear, long trousers, safety glasses and gloves.
• Always disconnect theproduct from thewall socket if:
- you leave thetrimmer unattended
- you remove grass and leaves that have become stuck
- you inspect, clean or work on theproduct
- you make any adjustments
- theproduct begins to vibrate abnormally

• If thegrass trimmer has been subjected to any shocks or impacts it must be checked for
damage. Any defect or damage must be repaired before thegrass trimmer is used. Make
sure that thetrimmer head is securely fastened on. If it is loose or damaged thegrass
trimmer must not be used.

Assembly
Warning:
• Do not connect thegrass trimmer to anelectrical socket until it is completely assembled.
Information
• When sold, thegrass trimmer shaft is contracted. This is adelivery position, to enable theproduct
to fit into thebox. Thefirst time thetelescopic shaft is extended, it passes anon-return pawl
creating anew end-stop.
1. Carefully pull theends of thefront handle (4)
apart until they can be lined up with thebracket
on thegrass trimmer. Note: Theend with
thehexagonal hole (arrow on thepicture) should
be on theside shown in thepicture.
2. Push in thescrew (9) from theside with
thehexagonal hole and screw on thelocking nut
by hand on theother side.
3. Push thetrimmer head through thehole in
thetrimmer guard (11). Thetrimmer guard only fits
one way, theheel of thetrimmer head must be in
thegroove of theguard.
4. Fasten thetrimmer guard using the2 screws.
Warning: Theblade on theguard is very sharp
and should be handled with extreme care
(shown by arrow).
5. Pull theends of theplant guard (1) apart and push
them in through theslots on thetrimmer head
above thetrimmer guard.

8. Plug thegrass trimmer lead into theextension lead.
Note: Plug theextension lead into awall outlet when it is time to use thetrimmer.
Set-up
Adjusting thelength of theshaft
1. Screw thelocking knob (3) afew turns anticlockwise.
2. Pull out or push in theshaft (2) to adjust it to theheight of theuser.
6. Make aloop out of 20–25 cm of
theextension lead and attach it to
thebracket (8) on thehandle.
7. Tighten theloop on thebracket.
Information
When thelength of theshaft is set correctly,
theunderside of thetrimmer head should be
just above the ground at anangle of 30° when
the trimmer is held using both handles.
3. Tighten thelocking knob
(clockwise direction).
Front handle angle
1. Screw thelocking nut (9)
afew turns anticlockwise.
2. Carefully pull theends of
thefront handle apart until
they can be tilted forward/
backward to thedesired
position.
3. Tighten thelocking nut
(clockwise direction).

Trimmer head angle
Set the angle of the trimmer head (12) to 0° for normal trimming or to 90° for edge trimming.
1. Completely release thelocking
knob on theshaft.
2. Twist theshaft to thedesired angle 0° or 90°,
themarkings on theshaft indicate which way
you should turn it.
3. Screw on thelocking knob and tighten it securely.
Important: When edge trimming, theplant guard (1) must be folded out.
Angle of theshaft towards thetrimmer head
1. Step on thepedal (10) with your foot.
2. Angle theshaft upwards to choose
thestandard position or downwards
to be able to get closer, under
afence, bushes, etc.
3. Release thepedal to lock theposition
(there are 3 fixed positions).
Instructions for use
Preparations
1. Follow thesteps in theAssembly and Set-up sections.
2. Plug theextension lead plug into awall socket.
3. Hold thegrass trimmer firmly with your left hand on thefront handle and theright hand on
therear handle (5). Thegrass trimmer must be held at aslight distance from your right-hand
side.
4. Stand straight, don’t lean forward and always consider your posture. Stand in awide stance
for optimum balance.
Warning:
• Turn off thegrass trimmer and unplug it from thewall socket before any maintenance or
inspection of thegrass trimmer which needs to be done while working.

Important:
• Check regularly during work that no grass, twigs, etc. have got stuck around thedrive shaft,
which can lead to theline slot getting clogged.
• Do not use this product if thegrass is wet as it can clog theline feed and thetrimmer guard
interior and also weaken theline feed operation. This can also lead to arisk of theuser
slipping or getting injured.
• Open up theplant guard if you are using thegrass trimmer near:
- Trees, bushes, etc. thetrimmer
line can damage sensitive bark
and fence posts.
- Walls, curbstones, etc.
Information
• Trim long grass in several stages for thebest results.
• Check thelength of theline regularly. Feed more line if it is too short.
• Do not let theunderside of thetrimmer head touch thesurface when in use.
Normal trimming (trimmer head angle 0°)
1. Press in thepower trigger (7) to start thegrass trimmer.
2. In aslow gentle sweeping motion move thetrimmer head in
ahalf-circle from left to right and back to thestarting position.
3. Start thenext sweeping movement at theedge of where you have
just trimmed and repeat until you have covered theentire area.
4. Release thepower switch to turn off thegrass trimmer.
Edge trimming (trimmer head angle 90°)
1. Press in thepower trigger to start thegrass trimmer.
2. Place thetrimmer head along theedge of where you want to trim.
3. Release thepower switch to turn off thegrass trimmer.
