IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers,
stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug.
A polarized plug has two blades with one wider that the other. A grounding-
type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or
third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into
the outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at
plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the
apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.
When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/
apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
13. Unplug this unit during lightning storms or when unused for long periods
of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required
when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply
cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into
the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moistue, does not
operate normally, or has been dropped.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
This label may appear on the bottom of the unit due to space limitations.
Attention: Installation should be performed by
qualified service personnel only in accordance with the
National Electrical Code or applicable local codes.

SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO
QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.

Power Disconnect. Units have power supplied
whenever the power cord is inserted into the power
source. The power cord is the main power disconnect
for all units.
The socket outlet shall be installed near the
equipment and shall be easily accessible.

The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle
is intended to alert the user to presence of important
operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in
the literature accompanying the appliance.
The lightning flash with an arrowhead symbol within an
equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the
product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude
to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

External CD/DVD writer
The external CD/DVD writer is connected to a Divar for making archives locally
without the need for a PC. The external CD/DVD writer is a laser product. The
following classification label is located on the drive.

AVOID EXPOSURE TO BEAM.

Firmware
Before connecting the external CD/DVD writer, please check that the Divar firmware
version is 2.0 or higher. You can verify the version number of your Divar by pressing
ALT followed by LIVE (F1), when in the live mode. You can check
www.boschsecuritysystems.com for the latest firmware version.

Rear panel
SCSI ID
Set the SCSI ID to a value between 0 and 6 (default 5). If you are using a disk array
make sure that the ID you select for the external CD/DVD writer is different from the
ID set on the disk array. (The default SCSI ID of the Divar itself is 7.)
Connection
Connect the external CD/DVD writer to the Divar first, then connect the disk array to
the external CD/DVD writer. If no disk array is used, be sure to connect the supplied
terminator to the second SCSI connector!
Plug and play
The external CD/DVD writer can be directly connected to the Divar without switching
it off. You only need to reboot if a SCSI cable is disconnected to place the external CD/
DVD writer between a storage array and the Divar. Select Detect writer (refer to the Disk
manager/Storage setup menu) to detect a connected CD/DVD writer for the first time.
This is only necessary if the Divar is switched on before the writer and if the writer's SCSI
ID is not 5 (the default). After switching on the external CD/DVD writer, wait
approximately 30 seconds before proceeding.

Supported Media
The external CD/DVD writer supports the following types of media:
DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-R and CD-RW.
The CD/DVD writer might not support all CD and DVD media. For a list of approved
media (not supplied by Bosch), please visit www.boschsecuritysystems.com. After making
an archive with the CD/DVD writer, we advise you to test the CD or DVD media to
verify that the archived data can be played back on a PC.
Installation Environment
Mounting: The external CD/DVD writer is supplied as a desktop unit.
Ventilation: Ensure that the location planned for the installation of the unit is well
ventilated. Take note of the locations of the cooling vents in the unit's enclosure and
ensure that they are not obstructed.
Tem pe r at u re : Extremes of heat or cold beyond the specified operating temperature
limits may cause the unit to fail. Do not install the unit on top of hot equipment.
Power Supply: Ensure that the site's AC power supply is stable and within the rated
voltage of the unit. If the site's AC power is likely to have spikes or power dips, use power
line conditioning or an uninterruptable power supply (UPS).
Achive Player software
When you have successfully connected your external CD/DVD writer to the Divar, verify
that the writer has been detected in the Divar’s Disk Manager / Storage Setup menu,
insert the supplied CD and load the latest version of the Achive Player software into the
Divar according to the instructions that appear on your monitor screen.
