RTX-8L3V-FSK/ASK is an RF digital data transceiver, with high sensitivity and p wer d wn m de
functi nality, w rking n the ISM free-license band f 868.30 MHz, in half-duplex way, FSK m dulated and
fast switch time TX→

It’s ideal f r l w c st s luti ns, battery supplied systems and thanks t its small size t hand-held terminals;
f r 2-way radi system needing t save space and battery life.
Max speed rate is 4 Kbit/sec Manchester enc ded.
The device can w rk in c mpliance with HCS Micr chip data frame.
All transceiver features can be handled by 4 lines (RX/TX, ENABLE, DATA IN, DATA OUT).
The m dule is available at 3V f p wer supply and it’s c mpliant t Eur pean N rmative EN300 220 and
EN301 489.

Transmitter
It embeds a VCO scillat r c ntr lled by PLL circuit in rder t achieve sh rt switching time TX-RX and wake
up time fr m stand-by m de.
A p wer amplifier b sts the emitted p wer up t 5dBm.
Spuri us emissi ns are limited by SAW filter techn l gy.
Transmitter is switched n driving high RX/TX line and l w the data in line.
The PLL circuit switches n in 200-300 µS, necessary time t set pr perly the RF scillat r.
In rder t transmit, drive high r l w the data in line acc rding t the desired data sequence.
Data can be an enc ded frame r just c ming fr m data ut p rt. The data rate must be l wer than 10
kbit/sec.
Receiver
It’s a single c nversi n superhet-receiver with l cal scillat r, mixer circuit with frequency image rejecti n
and IF frequency at 400 kHz.

Fr nt end circuit and AGC:
A SAW filter is in the middle between antenna and pre-amplifier stage. AGC (aut matic gain c ntr l) circuit
acting n the gain impr ves the dynamic f RF received signal.
AGC turns n whenever the RF received signal is m re p werful than -74dBm and it sets the max gain 7ms
after the RF signal g es d wn the -59 dBm.
This t lerance range prevents endless switches f AGC during recepti n.
Data-Slicer:
This circuit c nverts the anal g signal c ming fr m L.F. t digital ne.
It’s made up f a c mparat r, anal g signal is c nnected t RC netw rk with charge and discharge (time
c nstant equals t 2.25ms).
The circuit all ws recepti n f data pulses with length l wer than 5 ms and higher than 100 us.
It’s n t p ssible t receive UART RS-232 signals. It’s highly suggested t use a balanced c de (Manchester)
as the byte c ntains at least a high r l w level, all wing the peak detect r t perate pr perly.
It’s n t p ssible t receive a DC l w r high level f r a time l nger than 10ms; theref re in case f receiving
pr prietary data frame, it is rec mmended t enc de data taking care f the pulse length limit (10ms).
Squelch immunity t data utput:
The digital utput f receiver (pin 9) is n t immune t white n ise generated by the receiver itself when n
carrier is n air, then pseud -rand m c de, like white n ise, c mes ut f the data utput.
Typically digital utput is c nnected t the input p rt f a micr c ntr ller which must rec gnize valid data
am ng the white n ise.

Operational modes
RTX-8L3V-FSK/ASK can w rk in 4 different m des:

By driving l w level pin 6 (ENABLE) the device enters the saving-energy m de, where c nsumpti n is less
than 0,5µA: this m de the transceiver can’t neither receive n r transmit.
2. Idle M de
Initial state where the transceiver is in idle m de when pin 6 (ENABLE) and pin 5 (TX/RX) are high and pin
4(data in) is l w level.
In idle m de the transceiver is n with c nsumpti n f 4,7mA.
PLL circuit f transmitter is active.
3. RF Transmissi n M de
When the pin 5 (TX/RX) and 6 (ENABLE) are b th high, the RF carrier is emitted thr ugh antenna with 5
dBm p wer and the verall c nsumpti n is ar und 19,3mA.
4. RF Receiving M de
Receiving m de is selected by driving l w pin 5 (RX/TX) and high pin 6 (ENABLE).
