Read all instructionsbeforeinstallingorusingthisheater.

2. Keepcombustiblematerials, suchas furniture,pillows, bedding, papers, clothesandcurtainsat

least 3feetfromthefront oftheheater;keepthemawayfromsidesandrear as well.

3. Alwaysunplugheaterwhenit snot in use.

4. Donotoperatethefireplaceifithasadamagedcordorplug,afterit hasmalfunctioned,orifthe

unithasbeendroppedordamaged in anyway.

5. Neverplacetheheaterwhereit mayfall into abathtuborotherwatercontainers.

6. Donotrun thecordundercarpeting.Donotcoverthecordwiththrowrugs, runnersoranything

else.Arrangethecordawayfromtrafficareas whereit couldnotbetripped over.

7. To disconnecttheheater,turnthecontrolsto"OFF" beforeremovingtheplugfromtheoutlet.

8. Donotinsertorallowforeignobjectstoenteranyventilationorexhaustopening,as thismay

causeanelectricshock,fireordamagetotheheater.

9. To prevent apossiblefire,donotblockair intakesin anymanner.

10. Aheaterhashotand arcingorsparkingpartsinside.Donotuseitinareaswheregasoline,paint

orflammableliquidsareusedorstored.

11. Usethisheateronlyas describedinthismanual.Anyotherusenot recommendedbythe

manufacturermaycausefire,electricshockorinjurytopersons.

12. Avoidtheuseofanextensioncordbecausetheextension cordmayoverheat andcauseafire.

13. Alwaysuseproperlygroundedfused andpolarized outlets.

14. Alwaysusegroundfault protection whereitis requiredbyelectrical codes.

15. Alwaysdisconnectthepowerbeforeperforminganycleaning,maintenanceorrelocationofthe

heater.

16. To prevent apossiblefire,donotburn wood orothermaterials inthis heater.

17. Topreventelectricshockorfire,alwaysuseacertifiedelectrician,shouldnewcircuitsor

outletsberequired.

Whentransportingorstoringtheheater,keepit in adryplace,freefromexcessivevibration.

UNPACKINGANDTESTINGAPPLIANCE

Carefullyremovetheappliancefromthebox. Priortoinstallingtheappliance,testtomakesurethe

applianceoperatesproperlybypluggingthepowersupplycordintoaconvenientlylocated120Volt

groundedoutlet.

GROUNDINGAPPLIANCE

This applianceis foruseon 120Volts.Thecordhasaplugasshownin(A). Anadapterasshownin(C)

is availableforconnectingthree-bladegroundingtypeplugstotwo-slotreceptacles.Thegreen

groundinglugextendingfromtheadaptermustbeconnectedtoapermanentground suchasa

properlygroundedoutletbox. Theadaptershouldnotbeusedifathree-slotgroundedreceptacleis

available.

To disconnectappliance,turn controls to off,then removeplugfromoutlet.

LOCATINGTHEFIREPLACE

Planwhere tolocateandframethefireplace.This will savetimeandmoneylaterwhenyouinstall

thefireplace.Beforeinstallationconsiderthefollowing:

1. Where thefireplaceis locatedmust allowforwallandceilingclearances(see INSTALLATION)

2. Consideralocationwhere thefireplacescreenwill notbeexposedtodirectsunlight from

windowsordoors.

3. A15 ampere,120 Volt,60 Hz branchcircuit with properground mustbeavailableatthelocation.

Preferablyadedicatedbranchcircuitshouldbeprovidedtoavoidcircuitbreakerstotripoffuses

toblow.

TheBI-SLIMmodels aredesignedto bebuilt-inand allow forthefinishingmaterial (drywall, stone,

tile,etc) tobebuilt rightdownto theglass edge.However,thatapplication is not alwaysdesirableor

availablesothesurround could beused asan alternatefinishoption.

Note:Theoptional trim can bepulledoutdirectlyfromtheunit.Itwill need twopeopletodoit.
