Remove Packaging

Your commercial refrigerator (see Figure 1) has been packed for

shipment with all parts that could be damaged by movement se-

curely fastened. Before using, be sure all packing materials and

tape have been removed.

Important

Keep your carton packaging unl your refrigerator has been thor-

oughly inspected and found to be in good condion. If there is

damage, the packaging will be needed as proof of damage in tran-

sit.

Note to Customer

This merchandise was carefully packed and thoroughly inspected

before leaving our plant. Responsibility for its safe delivery was

assumed by the carrier upon acceptance of the shipment. As di-

rected on the side of your packing carton, claims for loss or dam-

age sustained in transit must be made on the carrier as follows:

• Exterior Damage

Make thorough damage notaon on your delivery receipt and

have driver acknowledge by signature and date. Send a wrien

request asking for an inspecon report from carrier. Include the

name of carrier representave and the date the inspecon was

requested. Retain inspecon report and receipt for ling of a

claim.

• Concealed Damage

This must be reported to the carrier within 15 days. Obtain in-

specon report from the carrier. Retain the inspecon report for

ling the claim.

DO NOT RETURN DAMAGED MERCHANDISE TO THE MANUFAC-

TURER - FILE THE CLAIM WITH THE CARRIER.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read all instrucons before using this refrigerator.

WARNING

For Your Safety

Do not store or use gasoline or other ammable vapors or liquids

in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. Read product labels

for ammability and other warnings.

WARNING

Child Safety

• Destroy carton, plasc bags, and any exterior wrapping im-

mediately aer the refrigerator is unpacked. Children should

never use these items for play. Cartons covered with rugs,

bedspreads, plasc sheets, or stretch wrap may become air-

ght chambers and can quickly cause suocaon.

• A child might suocate if he crawls into a refrigerator to hide

or play. Remove the door of a refrigerator when not in use,

even if you plan to discard the refrigerator. Many communi-

es have laws requiring you to take this safety precauon.

• Remove and discard any spacers (see Figure 2) used to secure

the shelves during shipping. Small objects are a choke hazard

to children.

• Each year, children die because they climb inside a discarded

refrigeraon product, get trapped inside and suocate. Take

precauons to prevent such tragedies by removing the door

or by taping or chaining it shut before discarding.

INSTALLATION

WARNING

Electrical Informaon

• Refrigerator must be plugged into its own 115V, 60Hz., AC

only electric outlet. The power cord of the appliance is

equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for your protec-

on against shock hazards (see Figure 3 below). It must be

plugged directly into its own properly grounded three-prong

receptacle, protected with a 15 amp me delay fuse or circuit

breaker. The receptacle must be installed in accordance with

the local codes and ordinances. Consult a qualied electri-

cian. Receptacles protected by Ground Fault Circuit Inter-

rupters (GFCI) are NOT RECOMMENDED. DO NOT use an

extension cord or adapter plug.

• If voltage varies by 10 percent or more, refrigerator perfor-

mance may be aected. Operang the refrigerator with in-

sucient power can damage the motor. Such damage is not

covered under the warranty. If you suspect your voltage is

high or low, consult your power company for tesng.

• To prevent the refrigerator from being turned o acciden-

tally, do not plug the unit into an outlet controlled by a wall

switch or pull cord.

• Do not pinch, knot, or bend power cord in any manner.

Before starng the refrigerator, follow these important steps:

Installaon

• Choose a place that is near a grounded electrical outlet.

• The refrigerator should be located where surrounding tem-

peratures will not drop below 10 degrees F (-12 degrees C)

or exceed 110 degrees F (43 degrees C). The Freeze Control

Feature is designed to automacally maintain the selected in-

terior refrigerator temperature within these boundaries.

• Allow space around the unit for good air circulaon. Leave a

three (3) inch (75 millimeter) space on all sides of the refrig-

erator for adequate circulaon.

NOTE: The exterior walls of the refrigerator may become quite

warm as the compressor works to transfer heat from the inside.

Temperatures as much as 30 degrees F warmer than room tem-

perature can be expected. For this reason, it is parcularly impor-

tant in hoer climates to allow enough space for air circulaon

around your refrigerator.

Leveling

The refrigerator must have all boom corners resng rmly on

a solid oor. The oor must be strong enough to support a fully

loaded refrigerator. NOTE: It is VERY IMPORTANT for your refrig-

erator to be level in order to funcon properly. If the refrigera-

tor is not leveled during installaon, the door may be misaligned

and not close or seal properly, causing cooling, frost, or moisture

problems.

To Level Unit (see Figure 4 below)

Aer discarding crang screws and wood base, use a carpenter’s

level to level the refrigerator from front-to-back. Adjust the plas-

c leveling feet in front, 1/2 bubble higher, so that the door closes

easily when le halfway open.

WARNING

Other Precauons

• Never unplug the refrigerator by pulling on the power cord.

Always grip the plug rmly and pull straight out from the re-

ceptacle.

• Turning the control to OFF turns o the compressor, but does

not disconnect power to other electrical components.

• To avoid electrical shock, unplug the refrigerator before

cleaning and before replacing a light bulb.

INSTALLATION

Seng the Temperature Control

Cleaning

• Wash any removable parts of the refrigerator interior, and

exterior with mild detergent and warm water. Wipe dry. DO

NOT USE HARSH CLEANERS ON THESE SURFACES.

• Do not use razor blades or other sharp instruments, which

can scratch the appliance surface when removing adhesive

labels. Any glue le from the tape can be removed with a

mixture of warm water and mild detergent, or touch the resi-

due with the scky side of tape already removed. DO NOT

REMOVE THE SERIAL NAMEPLATE.

Door Removal

If the door must be removed to t through narrow doorways, UN-

PLUG THE UNIT.

1. Gently lay refrigerator on its back, on a rug or blanket.

2. Remove the grille by unscrewing the two screws from the

front of the grille.

3. At the top of the cabinet, li up the plasc hinge cover, and

fold back (see Figure 5 below).

4. Use a Phillips® screwdriver to loosen and reghten the screws

on the top hinge to ensure a secure assembly, and prevent

hinge slippage.

5. Remove the top hinge from the cabinet, and li door o of

lower hinge pin.

6. Aer door is removed, remove the two screws from the bot-

tom hinge.

7. To replace door, reverse above order.

Cool Down Period

For safe content storage, allow four (4) hours for refrigerator to

cool down completely. The refrigerator will run connuously for

the rst several hours.

Temperature Control

The temperature control (see Figure 6 above) is located inside the

refrigerator. The temperature is factory preset to provide sas-

factory content storage temperatures. However, the temperature

control is adjustable to provide a range of temperatures for your

personal sasfacon. If a colder temperature is desired, turn the

temperature control knob toward COLDEST and allow several

hours for temperatures to stabilize between adjustments.

NOTE

Your refrigerator may have some, or all of the features listed

below. Become familiar with these features, and their use and

care.

Power Cord Clamp

The clamp prevents the power cord from being accidently un-

plugged. Remember when removing or replacing the electrical

cord, to remove or replace the power cord clamp.

Adjustable Interior Shelves

Mul-posion adjustable interior shelves can be moved to any

posion for larger or smaller packages (see Figure 7 below). The

shipping spacers that stabilize the shelves for shipping should be

removed and discarded.

Automac Freeze Control

The Freeze Control Feature will maintain proper interior refrigera-

tor temperature even when the refrigerator is placed in an area

where the surrounding temperature drops down to 10 degrees F

(-12 degrees C).

Interior Light

The light comes on automacally when the door is opened. To

replace the light bulb, turn the temperature control to OFF and

unplug the electrical cord. Replace the old bulb with a bulb of the

same waage.

CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR REFRIGERATOR

Cleaning the Inside

Wash inside surfaces of the refrigerator with a soluon of two

tablespoons of baking soda in one quart (1.136 liters) of warm

water. Rinse and dry. Wring excess water out of the sponge or

cloth when cleaning in the area of the controls, or any electrical

parts.

Wash the removable parts with the baking soda soluon men-

oned above, or mild detergent and warm water. Rinse and dry.

NEVER use metallic scouring pads, brushes, abrasive cleaners, or

alkaline soluons on any surface. Do not wash removable parts

in a dishwasher.

Cleaning the Outside

Wash the cabinet with warm water and a mild liquid detergent.

Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean so cloth.

POWER FAILURE / REFRIGERATOR FAILURE

If a power failure occurs, minimize the number of door openings

to prevent a gradual rise in content temperature inside the refrig-

erator.

If the refrigerator has stopped operang, see “Refrigerator does

not run” in the Troubleshoong Secon of this manual. If you can-

not solve the problem, call an authorized servicer immediately.

Before Calling for Service

Before calling for service, check the troubleshoong table on this page. This table lists possible problems that you can remedy without

diculty to avoid an unnecessary service call.

OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Refrigerator does not run

1. Check to ensure that the refrigerator is not plugged into a circuit that has ground fault interrupt.

If you are unsure about the outlet, have it checked by a cered technician.

2. Temperature control is in the OFF posion. See “Seng the Temperature Control” in the Installa-

on secon.

3. Refrigerator may not be plugged in or plug may be loose. Be sure plug is ghtly pushed into elec-

trical outlet.

4. Circuit breaker has tripped. Check/reset circuit breaker.

5. Power outage. Call local electric company.

Refrigerator runs too much

or too long

1. Room or outside weather is too hot. It is normal for the refrigerator to work harder under these

condions.

2. Refrigerator has recently been disconnected for a period of me. Refrigerator requires four (4)

hours to cool down completely.

3. Large amounts of warm commodies have been stored recently. Warm commodies will cause

the refrigerator to run more unl the desired temperature is reached.

4. Door is kept open too long or too frequently. Warm air enters the refrigerator every me the

door is opened. Open the door less oen.

5. Refrigerator door may be slightly open. See “Door will not close” under OCCURRENCE.

6. Temperature control is set too cold. Turn the control knob to a warmer seng. Allow several

hours for the temperature to stabilize.

7. Refrigerator gasket is dirty, worn, cracked, or poorly ed. Clean or change gasket. Leaks in the

door seal will cause refrigerator to run longer in order to maintain desired temperature.

Temperature inside the

refrigerator is too cold

1. Temperature control is set too cold. Turn the control to a warmer seng. Allow several hours for

the temperature to stabilize.

Temperature inside the

refrigerator is too warm

1. Temperature control is set too warm. Turn the control to a colder seng. Allow several hours for

the temperature to stabilize.

2. Door is kept open too long or too frequently. Warm air enters the refrigerator every me the

door is opened. Open the door less oen.

3. Refrigerator door may be slightly open. See “Door will not close” under OCCURRENCE.

4. Large amounts of warm commodies have been stored recently. Wait unl the refrigerator has

had a chance to reach its selected temperature.

5. Refrigerator has recently been disconnected for a period of me. Refrigerator requires four (4)

hours to cool down completely.

Temperature of external

refrigerator surface is warm

1. The exterior refrigerator walls can be as much as 30 degrees F warmer than room temperature.

This is normal while the compressor works to transfer heat from inside the refrigerator cabinet.

Louder sound levels when-

ever refrigerator is ON

1. Modern refrigerators have increased storage capabilies and more even temperatures. They

require a high eciency compressor. When the surrounding noise level is low, you might hear the

compressor running while it cools the interior.

TROUBLESHOOTING

OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Louder sound levels when

compressor comes ON

1. Refrigerator operates at higher pressures during the start of the ON cycle. This is normal. Sound

will level o or disappear as refrigerator connues to run.

Fan runs when room

temperature is below 45

degrees F

1. Exterior thermostat has acvated the heater and fan. This is normal.

Popping or cracking sound

when compressor comes

1. Metal parts undergo expansion and contracon, as in hot water pipes. This is normal. Sound will

level o or disappear as refrigerator connues to run.

Bubbling or gurgling sound,

like water boiling 1. Refrigerant (used to cool refrigerator) is circulang throughout the system. This is normal.

Vibrang or raling noise

1. Refrigerator is not level. It rocks on the oor when it is moved slightly. Level the unit. Refer to

“Leveling“ in the Installaon secon.

2. Floor is uneven or weak. Refrigerator rocks on the oor when it is moved slightly. Be sure oor

can adequately support refrigerator. Level the refrigerator by pung wood or metal shims under

part of the refrigerator.

3. Refrigerator is touching the wall. Level the refrigerator or move slightly. Refer to “Leveling” in the

Installaon secon.

Snapping sound 1. Cold control is turning the refrigerator on and o. This is normal.

Moisture forms on inside

refrigerator walls

1. Weather is hot and humid. This is normal.

2. Door is slightly open. See “Door will not close” under OCCURRENCE.

3. Door is kept open too long, or is opened too frequently. Open the door less oen.

Moisture forms on outside

of refrigerator

1. Door is slightly open, causing the cold air from inside the refrigerator to meet warm moist air from

the outside. See “Door will not close” under OCCURRENCE.

Odor in refrigerator

1. Interior needs to be cleaned. Clean interior with sponge, warm water, and baking soda.

2. Commodies with strong odors are in the refrigerator. Stored commodies in ghtly sealed con-

tainers.

Door will not close

1. Refrigerator is not level. It rocks on the oor when it is moved slightly. This condion can force

the cabinet out of square and misalign the door. Refer to “Leveling“ in the Installaon secon.

2. Floor is uneven or weak. Refrigerator rocks on the oor when it is moved slightly. Be sure oor

can adequately support refrigerator. Level the refrigerator by pung wood or metal shims under

the refrigerator or brace the oor supporng the refrigerator.

Light bulb is not ON

1. Light bulb is burned out. Follow direcons under “Interior Light“ in the Refrigerator Oponal

Features secon.

2. No electric current is reaching the refrigerator. See “Refrigerator does not run” under OCCUR-

RENCE.
